Gangs of New York: Sicilian mafia offers Big Apple protection from 'psychopathic' ISIS

Published time: 22 Nov, 2015 11:13

The son of a New York mob boss has given Islamic State a stark warning, saying if they are planning any attacks in New York, they will have to contend with the Sicilian mafia. The notorious crime syndicate say they want to do their bit to protect locals.

Giovanni Gambino, the son of a key figure in the Gambino mob organization, says the mafia is in a much better position than security bodies, such as the FBI or Homeland Security, to give New Yorkers the protection they need.

“They often act too late, or fail to see a complete picture of what's happening due to a lack of ‘human intelligence,’” he said in an interview with NBC News, as cited by Reuters, adding that the mafia’s knowledge of individual movements and interaction with locals gives it the upper hand, even compared to the latest surveillance technologies.

Gambino, who is trying to carve out a career as a Hollywood screenwriter, says that, following the horrendous terror attacks in Paris on November 13, protection is more important than ever.

"The world is dangerous today, but people living in New York neighborhoods with Sicilian connections should feel safe," he said. "We make sure our friends and families are protected from extremists and terrorists, especially the brutal, psychopathic organization that calls itself the Islamic State,”

Gambino Jr, who was brought up in Torretta, a mountainous area overlooking Palermo, the capital of Sicily, says that Islamic State (formerly ISIS/ISIL) fear the Sicilian mafia, and this has been one of the main reasons why they have not tried to set up any underground cells in Sicily.

FBI Confirms Alleged ISIS Threat Against WWE Event in Atlanta on Sunday

November 22, 2015

"Body slams were the defiant answer to terrorists Sunday night, as a major WWE wrestling event at Atlanta’s Philips Arena got underway without incident following the FBI’s confirmation that it was aware of an alleged threat by the Islamic group ISIS to attack it.

On Saturday, the hacker group Anonymous said that it had uncovered information about Islamic State group plans for additional terror attacks in Paris as well as locations in the U.S., according to the International Business Times. An FBI said that while the bureau was aware of the threat, it did not have “specific or credible information of an attack.

“The FBI is aware of reports of an alleged threat that includes an Atlanta, Georgia venue and event,” FBI Special Agent in Charge J. Britt Johnson of the Atlanta office said on Saturday. “While we take all threats seriously, we do not have specific or credible information of an attack at this time. We have, however, made the proper notifications as we continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private sector partners to keep our community safe.”

Report: Russia Starts Ground Operations in Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian infantry forces, supported by air force and artillery units, launched their first operations inside the Syrian territory, a Kuwaiti paper reported.

"The Russian infantry forces, supported by tanks and fighter jets, participated for the first time in operations to attack the Takfiri militants in Syria in a region between Lattakia and Idlib provinces" and they could take control of strategic heights without sustaining any casualties, Kuwait's al-Rai newspaper quoted Syrian dissident commanders as saying.

It added that the conditions for Russia's ground operations in Syria were prepared by the country's advanced 130-mm artillery and SU-25M fighter jets.

"This shows that Russia is preparing its forces at a high level to fight against enemies… since Russia has decided to enter Syria powerfully and assumes the Levant territory as a real training field to show its power and develop its weapons and military equipment which have not been used in any real war for years," the paper claimed quoting the same sources.

They also claimed that the Syrian command has been in charge of logistical support for the first-time war fought by the Russian infantry forces in Syria.

But Moscow has repeatedly underlined that it will not fight any ground battle in Syria.

Russia Starts 2nd Round of Military Operations against ISIL in Syria

The Russian army is also targeting the terrorists' positions with its long-range cruise missiles fired from the Mediterranean and Caspian seas while 37 new fighter jets joined the Russian fleet of warplanes in the second round of military operations against the ISIL.

The second phase of Russian airstrikes against the ISIL positions comes 50 days after the first airstrike was launched on the Takfiri militants in Syria.

The Arabic-language Al-Mayadeen TV reported that Russia's strategic warplanes will start pounding ISIL targets with 40 tons of bombs in each mission.

The Russian fighter jets usually target the command centers, gatherings and military camps of the ISIL terrorists.

Oil tankers and logistical routes of the ISIL terrorist group are among other targets of the Russian fighter jets.

The Russian warplanes will now start firing more powerful missiles and drop bombs on ISIL targets weighing 500 kilograms each.

On November 17, groups of Tupolev Tu-95 (Bear), Tu-22 (Blinder) and Tu-160 (Blackjack) long-range bombers took off from Russian airfields and returned to their base after striking the militants in Syria for the first time.

The decision to augment operation in Syria was taken after the Russian security service, the FSB, reported to President Vladimir Putin that the Russian passenger plane that crashed over Egypt’s Sinai was destroyed by a terrorist bomb.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to find and punish the culprits behind the Sinai plane attack. “Our military work in Syria must not only continue. It must be strengthened in such a way so that the terrorists will understand that retribution is inevitable,” he said.

Russian Su-24 fighter jet shot down over Syria - Russian MoD (VIDEO)

A Russian Su-24 fighter has been shot down in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said, adding the plane hadn’t violated Turkish airspace and was flying at an altitude of 6,000 meters.

“Today an aircraft from the Russian Air Force in the Syrian Arab Republic crashed in Syria supposedly shot down from the ground,” the ministry said in a statement.

The pilots managed to eject, the ministry said, adding their fate is as yet unknown.

“During the flight, the aircraft was flying only within the borders of Syria. That was registered by objective monitoring data,” the ministry added.

Reports of a downed plane emerged earlier in Turkish media. A Habertürk TV reporter on the scene said the aircraft “turned into a fireball.” Numerous witnesses wrote on social media, saying thick plumes of smoke have been rising from the jet crash site.

Russian Warplane Down: NATO’s Act of War

Despite blatant provocation, Russia must continue toward the finish line. With cameras rolling, Turkey has claimed it has shot down a Russian Sukhoi Su-24 attack aircraft. The New York Times in its article, “Turkey Shoots Down Russian Warplane Near Syria Border,” reports that:

Turkish fighter jets on patrol near the Syrian border shot down a Russian warplane on Tuesday after it violated Turkey’s airspace, a long-feared escalation that could further strain relations between Russia and the West.

The escalation is “long feared” not because the Turkish government actually fears that Russian warplanes crossing their border pose a threat to it or its people, but because Russia has ended NATO’s proxy war, a proxy war spearheaded in part by Turkey itself, amid Russia’s joint military operations with Syria against the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” (ISIS) and supporting terrorist factions.

In addition to having a camera rolling as the plane went down in flames, terrorists operating in region had allegedly surrounded the dead pilot shortly after the incident according to Reuters.

While Turkey maintains that it was only reacting in self-defense (or perhaps in defense of terrorists it is sponsoring) – it was against a nation’s planes that it knew had no intention of attacking its territory – and what looks like instead was Turkey targeting planes operating along reoccurring routes and shooting one down once the pieces were in place to maximize the event politically.

Russia Continues Toward the Finish Line

In recent weeks with Russian air support, Syrian troops have retaken large swaths of territory from ISIS, Al Qaeda, and other terrorist fighters. The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has even begun approaching the Euphrates River east of Aleppo, which would effectively cut off ISIS from its supply lines leading out of Turkish territory.

From there, Syrian troops would move north, into the very “safe zone” the US and its Turkish partners have long-sought but have so far failed to establish within Syria’s borders. This “safe zone” includes a region of northern Syrian stretching from Jarabulus near the west bank of the Euphrates to Afrin and Ad Dana approximately 90-100 kilometers west

Once Syrian troops retake this territory, the prospect of the West ever making an incursion into Syria, holding territory, or compromising Syria’s territorial integrity would be lost forever. Western ambitions toward regime change in Damascus would be indefinitely suspended.

The endgame is at hand, and only the most desperate measures can hope to prevent Russia and Syria from finally securing Syria’s borders. Turkey’s provocation is just such a measure.

Russia’s time, place, and method of retaliating against Turkey is something only the Kremlin will know. But Russia’s actions upon the international stage have been so far thoroughly thought out, allowing Moscow to outmaneuver the West at every juncture and in the wake of every Western provocation.

For Turkey’s government – one that has been consistent only in its constant failure regarding its proxy war against its neighbor Syria, who has been caught planning false flag provocations to trigger wider and more direct war in Syria, and whose government is now exposed and widely known to be directly feeding, not fighting ISIS – the prospect of Russian retaliation against it, either directly or indirectly, and in whatever form will leave it increasingly isolated.

Until then, Russia’s best bet is to simply continue winning the war. Taking the Jarabulus-Afrin corridor and fortifying it against NATO incursions while cutting off ISIS and other terrorist factions deeper within Syria would be perhaps the worst of all possible retaliations. With Syria secured, an alternative arc of influence will exist within the Middle East, one that will inevitably work against Saudi and other Persian Gulf regimes’ efforts in Yemen, and in a wider sense, begin the irreversible eviction of Western hegemony from the region.

The West, already being pushed out of Asia by China, will suffer immeasurably as the world dismantles its unipolar international order, region by region.

As in the game of chess, a player often seeks to provoke their opponent into a series of moves. The more emotional their opponent becomes, the easier it is to control the game as it unfolds. Likewise in geopolitics and war, emotions can get one killed, or, be channeled by reason and superior strategic thinking into a plan that satisfies short-term requirements but serves long-term objectives. Russia has proven time and time again that it is capable of striking this balance and now, more than ever, it must prove so again.

US knew flight path of plane downed by Turkey: Putin

President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia had given prior information to the United States of the flight path of the plane downed by Turkey on the Syrian border.

"The American side, which leads the coalition that Turkey belongs to, knew about the location and time of our planes' flights, and we were hit exactly there and at that time," Putin said at a joint press conference with French counterpart Francois Hollande in the Kremlin.

Moscow warns against US plans to continue training Ukrainian troopers

November 26, 21:43

The United States is starting a second phase of training of the Ukrainian army and is planning to train and equip six army battalions, including one special operations unit.

MOSCOW, November 26 /TASS/. The United States has launched a new phase of training of Ukrainian servicemen, a fact, which may have negative consequences for the future of the Donbas truce, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday

She recalled that 300 US instructors from the 173rd US airborne brigade had trained three battalions - 780 people - for Ukraine’s National Guard in a period from April to November. "It is noteworthy that the training completed at a time when the situation on the line of contact in Donbas started getting worse and the newly trained people were apparently sent there," Zakharova said.

"The presence of foreign paratroopers and their weapons on the Ukrainian soil means gross violation of the Minsk package of measures, point 10 in particular, by the Kiev government," Zakharova said adding that point 10 provides for the OSCE-monitored withdrawal of all foreign units, military vehicles and mercenaries from the Ukrainian territory.

Do Not Panic America - Elite FBI Teams Are Tracking At least 48 "High Risk" ISIS Suspects In The US

November 27, 2015

Tyler Durden

"They are among us, appears to the message being delivered to America this Thanksgiving holiday. As Fox News reportselite FBI teams are tracking at least 48 "high-risk" ISIS suspects within the U.S., as Republican Senator Dan Coats, who is on the Select Committee on Intelligence, said "there is a very significant number of people that are on suspicious watch lists, under surveillance... it's almost overwhelming."

Surveillance squads are following the men and women, who are believed to be radicalized, 24 hours a day in case they are planning acts of terrorism. At least a dozen highly trained agents work on each case, meaning far more than 500 are involved in tailing the suspicious individuals. As Fox News reports,"

OK. at LEAST 48  with  AT LEAST 12 highly trained agents on each of them, meaning FAR MORE than 500! Being paid HOW MUCH per hour?

So now tell me once more, what does a bloody ticket out of here cost?  IF they ARE SUSPECTED of planning terrorism, then WHY NOT SIMPLY ARREST AND DEPORT THEM???  More like, maybe IF a Terrorist attack takes place, someone's A** will be covered. It was one of those we were watching, and we lost track of them for a while...urrrggghhh

Top U.S. Air Defense Commander: Turkey’s Shootdown of Russian Jet “Had to Be PRE-PLANNED”

November 27, 2015

"George Washington"

"Lt. General Tom McInerney is an expert on handling threats from fighter jets.

McInerney served as:

  • Commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) – the military agency responsible for protecting the United States and Canada from foreign jet attacks – for the Alaska region
  • Commander of the Alaskan Air Command
  • Commander of 11th Air Force in Alaska
  • Commander of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, Clark Air Base, Philippines
  • Commander of the 313th Air Division, Kadena Air Base, Japan
  • Commander of 3rd Air Force, Royal Air Force Station Mildenhall, England
  • Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force
  • A command pilot with more than 4,100 flying hours, including 407 combat missions

In his role as Norad commander for Alaska, McInerney dealt with more Russian fighter jet incursions (which he calls “bear penetrations”) than anyone else in the world.

So McInerney knows how to tell innocent from hostile incursions by foreign fighter jets, standard rules of engagement of foreign fighter jets, how to read radar tracks, and the other things he would need to know to form an informed opinion about the shootdown of a foreign jet.

Yesterday, McInerney told Fox News – much to the surprise of the reporter interviewing him – that assuming the Turkish version of the flight path of the Russian jet is accurate, Russiawasn’t threatening Turkey, and that Turkey’s shoot down of the Russian jet “had to be pre-planned”, as the jet wasn’t in Turkish air space long enough for anything other than a premeditated attack to have brought it down:

Now Putin threatens to WITHDRAW from Syria ISIS raids if another Russian jet is shot down

November 27, 2015

Jack Burman

VLADIMIR Putin has threatened to pull out of operations against Islamic State in Syria if another Russian jet is shot down

"The Moscow leader warned his cooperation with the US-led coalition will be jeopardised if there is any repeat of "unacceptable" military action against his airforce.

Speaking after talks with French president Francois Hollande, Putin voiced his anger with Turkey - claiming the country's actions were deemed an act of betrayal.

The ruthless Russian leader said: "We are ready to cooperate with the coalition which is led by the United States. But of course incidents like the destruction of our aircraft and the deaths of our servicemen... are absolutely unacceptable.

"And we proceed from the position that there will be no repeat of this, otherwise we'll have no need of cooperation with anybody, any coalition, any country."

However Putin said he would order Russia's military to intensify its cooperation with French forces - including exchanging information about targets."

"The ruthless Russian leader ???Seems to me, shooting a defenseless parachuting pilot is "ruthless" and against the Geneva Accords.

With Turkey and Russia trading insults, here’s why they’re probably not really willing to fight

November 27, 2015

"THE BLUSTER between Moscow and Ankara remains aggressive after the shooting down of a Russian combat jet earlier this week. If the spiral of threats reach flashpoint, here’s a few of the weapons you’ll suddenly be hearing a whole lot more about.

Russia is likely to find Turkey’s military a tough old bird. Decades of tensions between it and NATO partner Greece over ownership of waterways in the Aegean Sea regularly results in their forces staring each other down. But it’s also NATO’s second largest power, with some 640,000 personnel. Its air force is made up of some 230 fighters and a similar number of attack aircraft. At sea it has 16 frigates and 13 submarines. Its land army is supported by 3700 tanks.

Russia’s much maligned technology, however, is also proving to be something of a surprise."

Putin approves economic sanctions against Turkey following downing of Russian warplane

November 28, 2015

"Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree imposing a package of economic sanctions against Turkey following its downing of a Russian Su-24 bomber in Syria. The measures include banning several Turkish organizations and the import of certain goods.

A decree on "measures providing the national security of the Russian Federation and the protection of its citizens against criminal and other unlawful acts, and on imposing special economic measures in relation to Turkish Republic" was signed on Saturday, the Kremlin press service said.

Under the decree, the import of certain products originating from Turkey will be temporarily banned or restricted.

A number of Turkish organizations operating in Russia will also be restricted."

Who needs whom worse?  This is the way to get even.   I tell you, all the world's a stage! But there are those who need to get their lines straight. Either he's a fighter or he isn't. Who quits a war after losing one plane?  Unless the truth isn't being told about any of this.

Now Putin threatens to WITHDRAW from Syria ISIS raids if another Russian jet is shot down

November 27, 2015

Jack Burman

Putin said no such thing!    The Moscow leader warned his cooperation with the US-led coalition will be jeopardised if there is any repeat of "unacceptable" military action against his airforce.

(He doesn't have to co-operate with them... they are there illegally)

Putin added: "We are talking about a designation of the territories against which we can conduct strikes, and where it is better to refrain from strikes, about the exchange of information on various issues, and the coordination of our actions on, so to speak, the battlefield."

The Russian leader said he wanted to "avoid duplication and avoid strikes on those territories and groups which are themselves ready to fight terrorism".

He said: "We view this as the formation of a wide anti-terrorist coalition under the aegis of the United Nations."

Russia is not threatening to WITHDRAW from Syria ISIS raids, only from co-operating with  the US led NATOASSHOLES !!!!

The title of that article should be withdrawn  by the Sunday Express

If there was any lingering doubt about the illegality of coalition activities in Syria, the Syrian government put these to rest in September, in two letters to the UNSC that denounced foreign airstrikes as unlawful:

“If any State invokes the excuse of counter-terrorism in order to be present on Syrian territory without the consent of the Syrian Government whether on the country’s land or in its airspace or territorial waters, its action shall be considered a violation of Syrian sovereignty.”.....

.... If the ‘international community’ wants to return ‘peace and stability’ to the Syrian state, it seems prudent to point out that its very first course of action should be to stop breaking international law in Syria.

ISIS Oil Trade Full Frontal: "Raqqa's Rockefellers", Bilal Erdogan, KRG Crude, And The Israel Connection

November 29, 2015

Tyler Durden

"Effectively, we have been financially discriminated against for a long time. By early 2014, when we did not receive the budget, we decided we need to start thinking about independent oil sales” --  Ashti Hawrami, Kurdistan’s minister for natural resources

In June of 2014, the SCF Altai (an oil tanker) arrived at Ashkelon port. Hours later, the first shipment of Kurdish pipeline oil was being unloaded in Israel. “Securing the first sale of oil from its independent pipeline is crucial for the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) as it seeks greater financial independence from war-torn Iraq,” Reuters noted at the time, adding that“the new export route to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, designed to bypass Baghdad's federal pipeline system, has created a bitter dispute over oil sale rights between the central government and the Kurds.”

A week earlier, the SCF Altai received the Kurdish oil in a ship-to-ship transfer from the The United Emblem off the coast of Malta. The United Emblem loaded the crude at Ceyhanwhere a pipeline connects the Turkish port to Kurdistan.

The Kurds’ move to sell crude independent of Baghdad stems from a long-running budget dispute. Without delving too far into the details, Erbil is entitled to 17% of Iraqi oil revenue and in return, the KRG is supposed to transfer some 550,000 bpd to SOMO (Iraq’s state-run oil company). Almost immediately after the deal was struck late last year, Baghdad claimed the Kurds weren’t keeping up their end of the bargain and so, only a fraction of the allocated budget was sent to Erbil during the first five months of the year.

This was simply a continuation of a protracted disagreement between Erbil and Baghdad over how much of the state’s crude revenue should flow to the KRG. For its part, Iraq has threatened to sue anyone that buys independently produced Kurdish oil. For instance, when The United Kalavrvta - which left Ceyhan last June - prepared to dock in Galveston, Texas a month later, a SOMO official told Reuters that Iraq’s foreign legal team was “watching closely the movement of the vessel and [was] ready to target any potential buyer regardless of their nationality.”

You get the idea. Erbil wants a bigger piece of the pie, Baghdad doesn’t want to give it to them, and so some time ago, the KRG decided to simply cut the Iraqi government out and export crude on its own. The dispute is ongoing. "

No one knows why it took the US 14 months to strike the convoys. The official line is that The Pentagon was concerned about “collateral damage”, but  we doubt that’s the reason (for a detailed discussion of this, see here). Well now that the mainstream media have been forced to take a closer look at Islamic State’s main source of revenue (the group makes nearly a half billion a year in the illicit oil trade), we decided to take a closer look at exactly who is facilitating the transport of the stolen crude and where it ultimately ends up because you can be sure that the story you get from the major wires will be colored by a slavish tendency to avoid any and all “inconvenient” revelations. This is the fourth in a series of articles on the subject and we encourage you to review the first three:

On Friday we highlighted an academic study by George Kiourktsoglou and Dr Alec D Coutroubis who took a look at tanker rates at Ceyhan around siginifant oil-related events involving ISIS. Here's what the researchers found: "

Here's one from Phillipbbg

Turkey’s Erdogan Owes Syria $100Bn For Stolen Oil: Turkey & Israel Owes Iraq $1.5 Trillion For Stolen Kirkuk Oil.

"Over the last two weeks, Russia has been destroying the “living pipeline” that has allowed Turkey to steal tens of millions of barrels of Syrian crude oil, much of it at peak market prices, while only paying their ISIS allies a pittance.

This process isn’t new. Turkey did this all during the Bush era, having cut a deal with US “manager” Paul Bremmer, a deal VT insiders helped manage for Bremmer and that I was witness to personally.

The game involved playing [baghdad, Iraq] against [E(I)rbil, Iraq In The Kurdistan Region] and bleeding off oil revenues from the Kirkuk Oil Fields, largest oil reserves in the world, as they moved by pipeline through Kurdistan and into Turkey.

Iraq Must Stay Divided & Isolated From Its Regional Environment: Israeli Minister of Internal Security Shin Bet aka; ISIS.
American Tankers loading up in Ceyhan, Turkey to deliver stolen oil to Israel. VT sources within the Turkish Navy at Ceyhan, Turkey, reported Exxon tankers loading up to 2 million barrels of Kirkuk light sweet crude oil at a time and did so “off the record.” ~~ Inside Iraq, VT editor Alex Powers, who helped oversee Iraqi oil sales and production for Paul Bremmer, confirmed these findings.
There they were offloaded onto American tankers in the Mediterranean where these huge ships, largest in the world, were filled with oil but it was never recorded and the oil never paid for.
Turkey got their cut, certain Turkish naval officers became fabulously wealthy while the Bush cabal poured billions into their Cayman offshore accounts managed by Bain Capital.

During the Bush era “War on Terror,” up to 40% of Iraqi crude oil, up to half of what was sent through Turkey on the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline was stolen.

Our investigations between 2005-7 which included meetings between Gordon Duff and Iraqi and Kurdish leaders in both Erbil and Tikrit covered this issue.

Vladimir Putin accused Turkey of allowing ISIS Terrorists to run a “living oil pipe” across its border as he upped the ante in the row over the downing of a Russian jet.

The Russian President said that reconnaissance footage, shared with world leaders at the G20 summit earlier this month, showed that oil was being smuggled through terrorist-held areas in Syria into Turkey “day and night”.

There were “vehicles, carrying oil, lined up in a chain going beyond the horizon”, he claimed.

Speaking after talks at the Kremlin with the French President Francois Hollande, Putin accused Ankara of false naivety over ISIS’s huge oil operation."

Greek media reports 1000 Turkey moving 1000 vehicles including Leopard 2A4 from 1st Army to Syrian border

posted by sfrantzis

Translation (Sorry its not perfect):

"Endless battalions of tanks APCs and Firtina self-propelled howitzers are being transferred from the region of Evros and the Zone of Responsibility of the 1st Army to the borders with Syria and there is information to suggest movement of Leo2A4 tanks with 120mm guns and much greater survivability against the Russian T-90 than the upgraded M60T SABRA.

The tanks are being moved from the western provinces of Turkey and joined the 5th Armoured Brigade based in Gaziantep.

Turkish tanks are transported by all means. Some arrive by train, others by tank carriers.

Overall, more than 1,000 battle tanks, artillery, APCs and self-propelled rocket launchers were moved from Eastern Thrace in the direction of Syria.

The Turkish 1st Army comprises four armored brigades, 7 Mechanized Infantry Brigades and two Infantry Divisions. The proportion of Greek and Turkish tanks in the Evros region is 1: 1.9.

However the Turkish armoured and mechanised Brigades are formations of four or five manoeuvring until, deploying a total of about 28 squadrons of tanks, while under the 5th Army Corps also falls an independent reconaissance squadron.

In recent years to support aggressive mechanised operations and overcoming the obstacle of the Evros river, the Turkish Army has received:

52 Samur raft loading vehicles 36 Leguan type bridging tanks 56 Keiler anti-mine vehicles 12 AZMIM amphibious engineering vehicles

This composition is very aggressive and is a matter of time before they would be used for violent crossing of the river to the west ...

The majority of the 650 AIFV and most of the 272 self-propelled artillery gun 155mm / 52 cal Firtina were in Eastern Thrace. Now approx 100 Firtina have been moved to Syria.

Furthermore all 339 Turkish tanks Leo2A4 fully equip the motorized parts of 1st Army. Together with other b-generation tanks a total of nearly 1000 Turkish tanks are located in Eastern Thrace.

In the region there are 36 launch vehicles F-600T with 100 ballistic missiles Yildirim (estimated range of 150 km). Moreover there are 12 M270 MLRS launchers with 72 ballistic missiles MGM-140A Atacms Block1 (range 165 km) serving with 105 Constitution Artillery.

Along with Firtina a large number of older M44T1, M107 and M110 A2 available the 1st Army. In total close to 600 self propelled artillery pieces older and new generation are available to support businesses in Eastern Thrace region.

It is estimated they have already moved to the border with Syria 25% of the power of the Turkish 1st Army."

so Russia is going to start land, air sea offensive, meanwhile Turkey moves all this right into the way of it  hmm, hope they have good armor

Reddwolf just popped this one up, does anyone recall what T told us about the Dardanelles and Turkey?

November 29, 2015

Turkey is authorized to close the Straits to all foreign warships in wartime or when it was threatened by aggression  << who shot who's plane down?

"Turkey has begun a defacto blockade of Russian naval vessels,  preventing transit through the Dardanelles and the Strait of Bosporus, between the Black Sea and Mediterranean.

According to the AIS tracking system for the movement of maritime vessels, only Turkish vessels are moving along the Bosphorus, and in the Dardanelles there is no movement of any shipping at all.

At the same time, both from the Black Sea, and from the Mediterranean Sea, there is a small cluster of ships under the Russian flag, just sitting and waiting.

The image below shows the situation with the ships using the GPS transponder on board each vessel:

In addition, shipping inside the Black Sea from Novorossiisk and Sevastopol in the direction of the Bosphorus, no Russian vessels are moving. This indirectly confirms the a CNN statement that Turkey may have blocked the movement of Russian ships on the Dardanelles and the Strait of Bosporus."

Erdogan Pledges to Start War Over Russian Anti-aircraft System in Syria

Kurt Nimmo | Infowars.com - November 27, 2015

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told CNN International his country will consider it an act of aggression if Russia takes down a Turkish plane violating Syrian airspace.

“In this case Turkey will be forced to take measures that will certainly not be discussed. And of course it would be an aggression against our rights of sovereignty and it’s the natural right of the state to protect those rights. We do not want to see any escalation of the situation in the region. We do not want to become a party to that. But those who side with Syria and escalate the tension, I think, are the responsible parties to this,” Erdogan said.

How close is Putin to blowing up NATO?

The Turkey-Russia feud raises a few questions about the future of NATO.  In other words, are NATO allies ready to defend Turkey?  Or are they expecting U.S. jets to do it?

Based on what we saw in Iraq in the late 1990s (enforcing the no-fly zone) and Kosovo in 1995, NATO will come down to U.S. and U.K. jets doing all the flying.

My guess is that Putin knows this and will try to force NATO to act.  He is now saying that the U.S. knew that Turkey would shoot down a Russian jet.  On the other hand, Turkey is telling Russia not to play with fire.

Who really knows?  At the same time, it does not matter.  The jet is down, a pilot is dead, and Putin just got the opportunity to prick the NATO balloon.

Putin has been trying to downsize NATO for some time.  I agree with Stephen Covington:

Russia’s leadership wants a Europe without strategic Alliances, without multi-national organizations and without a U.S.-Europe Transatlantic link that can through collective policies and action offset the national strengths Russia would hold over any one European nation. It would be a European security environment that would allow Russia to apply its national strengths to great effect without challenge and competition – enhancing its power abroad and at home.

How does Putin blow up NATO?  He doesn't.  He simply watches NATO blow up itself.  He forces NATO to work together, such as in defending Turkey under Article 5 or fighting ISIS.

In the end, NATO won't work together because of weak U.S. leadership and the reality that most countries have no real military resources to bring to the game.  NATO is like a baseball team where only a couple of guys can play and the rest can't do much more than watch from the dugout.

We will watch to see how this plays out.  Putin is a master tactician, and he assumes that Obama is weak and the West is weaker.  He is betting that he will win because the other side doesn't want to fight.  And he is right!

Russia Presents Detailed Evidence Of ISIS-Turkey Oil Trade

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/02/2015 15:45 -0500

On Monday, Turkey’s sultan President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said something funny. In the wake of Vladimir Putin’s contention that Russia has additional proof of Turkey’s participation in Islamic State’s illicit crude trade, Erdogan said he would resign if anyone could prove the accusations.

Now obviously, conclusive evidence that Ankara is knowingly facilitating the sale of ISIS crude will probably be hard to come by, at least in the short-term, but the silly thing about Erdogan’s pronouncement is that we’re talking about a man who was willing to plunge his country into civil war over a few lost seats in Parliament. The idea that he would ever “step down” is patently absurd.

But that’s not what’s important. What’s critical is that the world gets the truth about who’s financing and facilitating “Raqqa’s Rockefellers.” If a NATO member is supporting this, and if the US has refrained from bombing ISIS oil trucks for 14 months as part of an understanding with Erdogan, well then we have a problem. For those who need a review, see the following four pieces:

•The Most Important Question About ISIS That Nobody Is Asking

•Meet The Man Who Funds ISIS: Bilal Erdogan, The Son Of Turkey's President

•How Turkey Exports ISIS Oil To The World: The Scientific Evidence

•ISIS Oil Trade Full Frontal: "Raqqa's Rockefellers", Bilal Erdogan, KRG Crude, And The Israel Connection

Unfortunately for Ankara, The Kremlin is on a mission to blow this story wide open now that Turkey has apparently decided it’s ok to shoot down Russian fighter jets. On Wednesday, we get the latest from Russia, where the Defense Ministry has just finished a briefing on the Islamic State oil trade. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Turkey may be in trouble.

First, here’s the bullet point summary via Reuters:

That’s the Cliff’s Notes version and the full statement from Deputy Minister of Defence Anatoly Antonov is below. Let us be the first to tell you, Antonov did not hold back.

In the opening address, the Deputy says the ISIS oil trade reaches the highest levels of Turkey's government. He also says Erdogan wouldn’t resign if his face was smeared with stolen Syrian oil. Antonov then blasts Ankara for arresting journalists and mocks Erdogan’s “lovely family oil business.” Antonov even calls on the journalists of the world to "get involved" and help Russia "expose and destroy the sources of terrorist financing."

"Today, we are presenting only some of the facts that confirm that a whole team of bandits and Turkish elites stealing oil from their neighbors is operating in the region," Antonov continues, setting up a lengthy presentation in which the MoD shows photos of oil trucks, videos of airstrikes and maps detailing the trafficking of stolen oil. The clip is presented here with an English voice-over. Enjoy.

‘Hostile act:’ Iraqi PM denounces US ground forces deployment on Iraq’s territory

Published time: 4 Dec, 2015 18:42

Iraq has not requested that any country send ground troops into its territory and will regard any such move as a “hostile act,” the country’s prime minister, Haider Al-Abadi, said in view of a US decision to deploy special forces in the country.

Iraq “will consider any country sending ground combat forces a hostile act and will deal with it on this basis,” Al-Abadi said in a statement published by the prime minister’s office on Thursday, adding that “the Iraqi government is committed to not allowing the presence of any ground force on the land of Iraq.”(emphasis added)

“The Iraqi government confirms its firm and categorical rejection of any action of this kind issued by any country [that] violates our [iraq’s] national sovereignty,”Al-Abadi also said in the statement.

Baghdad “did not request any side... to send ground forces to Iraq,” he added, thus refuting reports that the Iraqi government had called for deployment of foreign troops to help Iraqi forces fight Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS?ISIL).

Iraq does not need any foreign forces from any state or international coalition, it only needs weapons, ammunition and training from its partners and allies in the fight against IS, the prime minister’s statement says.

‘Incursion’: Baghdad demands Turkey withdraw ‘training’ troops from northern Iraq

Published time: 4 Dec, 2015 20:12

The Iraqi government has demanded that Ankara withdraw the more than 100 Turkish forces that entered Iraq with tanks and artillery for alleged “training” of troops near Islamic State-occupied Mosul. Baghdad stressed the unsanctioned move was a breach of its sovereignty.

The Iraqi foreign ministry said in a statement early on Saturday that the Turkish troops were acting in violation of the country’s sovereignty and demanded the forces withdraw immediately. “Around one regiment armoured with tanks and artillery” has entered the northern Nineveh area, according to the statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister’s media office.

“The Iraqi authorities call on Turkey to respect good neighbourly relations and to withdraw immediately from the Iraqi territory,” the statement said, stressing that the Turkish troops entered “without the request or authorization from the Iraqi federal authorities,” which is a “serious breach of Iraqi sovereignty.”

The foreign ministry called Turkey’s move “an incursion,” Reuters reported.

Russian Spetsnaz on the way to Shairat

Original by Anton Mardasov published by Svobodnaya Pressa; translated from Russian by J.Hawk

Russia is preparing to establish a second airbase in Syria, after Hmeimim. According to The Times and Al-Rai (Kuwait), the new airbase will be the Shairat, 35km southeast of Homs in central Syria.

An additional 50 aircraft are to be deployed there, plus a spetsnaz brigade and support personel. There already are Russian military personnel at Shairat, as well as helicopters and base preparation troops. At the moment the base is being used by Syrian Air Force which bases MiG-23, -25, and Su-22 aircraft there. Moreover, Moscow is about to send a large number of TOS-1 rocket self-propelled armored flamethrowers to Syria.

A Russian defense source told lenta.ru that Shairat is necessary in order to prosecute operations in southern and eastern Syria.

–In order to support the offensive in the vicinity of Palmira and further to the east, toward Deir-es-Zor, Hmeimim is rather too far especially when it comes to using helicopters and attack aircraft which need to be based closer to their targets in order to ensure they are destroyed in a timely manner, said the source. Russian VKS used Shairat on earlier occasions as a forward base.

Russian MOD is not commenting on the reports that the operation will be expanded.

SP already reported earlier that in November there appeared reports on Russia using four bases to launch raids against the militants. In addition to Hmeimim in the Latakia province, helicopter sections were flown to the Tiyas airbase between Homs and Palmira as well as Hama and Shairat bases near Homs.

On November 17, the General Staff during a briefing for President Vladimir Putin displayed a slide showing Syrian air operations against the town of Mkhi. The presentation, which was the subject of a Russia Today report, showed that near Shairat there is a deployed unit of Russian artillery, specifically six Msta-B towed howitzers of the 5th Howitzer Battery of the 120th Guards Artillery brigade.

The former head of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov says that the time to establish a second airbase in Syria has come.

–The standard scenario is one regiment, one airbase. Our small group in Latakia was the first step. Our permanent presence in Syria demands further infrastructure development and increasing the size of the air group.

It is now necessary to expand Russian presence in Syria in order to increase the number of airstrikes,  to deploy additional fighter aircraft in order to provide protection for the strike aircraft, and to base electronic intelligence gathering aircraft to locate targets for aircraft and cruise missiles. I would not rule out the deployment not only of the Il-20M but also the A-50 airborne early warning aircraft. The Military Transport Aviation component will also be increased to ship munitions and other cargoes.

All of these measures are sensible since it’s obvious that the Russian presence in Syria is a long-term affair. It’s also logical to expect the deployment of not only air assets since a new threat has emerged in the form of Turkish army invasion into Syria to create a so-called “buffer zone.” These would not be scattered militant bands but an organized military force. Therefore we will need to deploy something to attack land units in the event the Turks attempt to invade.

German Intelligence Fears Turkey’s ‘Double Game’

Germany’s Bundeswehr believes that Turkey is "playing a double game" in the fight against terrorism and may use German intelligence data in its own interests.

Germany is planning to provide Turkey with intelligence data on Syria and Iraq only to a limited extent, despite the fact that both countries are NATO allies, Der Spiegel reported.

On Friday, the German Bundestag approved the deployment of Bundeswehr forces in Syria to fight against Daesh terrorists. The mission is expected to last until December 31, 2016.

As part of the mission, Germany is considering stationing Tornado surveillance planes at the NATO base in Incirlik in Turkey. But despite this, Berlin does not trust Ankara and assumes that Turkey may abuse the information it receives in order to conduct airstrikes on Kurdish positions.

"Indeed, Ankara provided the coalition with eight F-16 fighter jets which participate in the joint airstrikes against Daesh from time to time. However, at the same time Turkey is conducting airstrikes on Kurdish militias […] — the US’ partners, who are fighting against the Islamists in northern Iraq and Syria on the ground."

According to Spiegel, the Bundeswehr is going to censor the intelligence data and closely monitor to make sure that German Tornado planes are not used in missions on the southern outskirts of Turkey.

"This dilemma shows how complicated relations within the coalition are and how members pursue their own interests under the guise of the anti-terror war," the magazine wrote.
