BRITAIN'S BURNING!

Wildfires ravage UK in Furnace Friday heat and homes set ablaze as 90,000 lightning bolts strike country

Abe Hawken     July 27, 2018

Huge wildfires have ravaged parts of the UK as the heatwave continues to sweep across the country

"WILDFIRES are sweeping across the country as the heatwave continues - before thunderstorms and floods batter the UK.

Huge fires have ravaged parts of the country including Hampshire, Dorset, Hertfordshire and North Wales as temperatures continued to rise.

There was a huge fire on Ferndown Common in Dorset yesterday

Dramatic images show the huge impact the weather is having on the country as firefighters desperately battle ferocious fires.

London’s fire chief has even called for a BBQ ban because the capital has seen a record number of grass fires during the heatwave.

But the UK is expected to be hit with thunderstorms later this afternoon and almost 90,000 lightning bolts have already hit parts of the country today.

One lightning strike left a home in Langold, Notts, severely damaged when a storm broke out at 8.30am."

"A raging wildfire in Northern California that swelled in size Friday has killed two people and injured at least three firefighters, officials said.

The Carr Fire in Shasta County has claimed the lives of a bulldozer operator and a city of Redding firefighter, according to officials from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the U.S. National Park Service and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

The "mechanical failure of a vehicle" ignited the blaze in Whiskeytown on Monday, officials said. The fire had burned an area of more than 48,000 acres by Friday night, with a containment of just 5 percent.

143 MPH Fire Tornado Ripped Through Redding During Carr Fire

August 2, 2018

snip  video

"REDDING (CBS SF) — It’s the kind of finding one would suspect from National Weather Service investigators along Tornado Alley in the wake of a deadly storm front.

But it wasn’t. It was the measurement of the wind generated during the height of the firestorm that ripped through Redding last week, killing six people and damaging hundreds of homes."

Mandatory evacuations ordered as Holy fire grows to 6,200 acres; arson suspect arrested

August 8, 2018      BEATRIZ E. VALENZUELA

"The Holy fire roared toward Lake Elsinore-area communities to the northwest of the lake in Riverside County on Wednesday, Aug. 8, prompting authorities to order residents to flee a blaze that police say was intentionally set.

Crews had hoped to hold the fire at Main Divide Road in the Cleveland National Forest. But flames crested the ridge, so residents hurriedly packed their belongings.

As the acreage burned grew by about 50 percent Wednesday to 6,200 acres, mandatory evacuation orders were issued for the Lake Elsinore-area communities of McVickers Canyon, Rice Canyon, Horsethief Canyon, Glen Eden, El Cariso Village, Sycamore Creek, Rancho Capistrano and the Ortega Highway corridor from the Grand Avenue in Riverside County to Nichols Institute in Orange County.

The flames were about a half-mile to a mile from those communities, Vickie Wright, a spokeswoman for the incident command team, said about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday."

NSW bushfires: Wild winds fuel blazes around Port Stephens and Ulladulla

Jack Morphet     August 18, 2018

"FIREFIGHTERS battled an out-of-control blaze on NSW’s South Coast, after a long day fighting wild winds threatening houses Saturday.

The bushfires were raging through Salt Ash, near Port Stephens, Mount Kingiman, west of Ulladulla, and Tabulum between Tenterfield and Casino Saturday.

A strong wind change over the Hunter fireground late this afternoon pushed the fire north towards Tanilba Bay, Mallabula, and Lemon Tree Passage, closing Oyster Cove Rd and Lemon Tree Passage Rd.

Australian firefighters spent hours hiding from US shooters who 'pointed rifles at them', report reveals

https://www.smh.com.au/world/north-america/australian-firefighters-shot-at-by-men-with-scoped-rifles-in-hours-long-ordeal-in-us-20180911-p502zw.html

"The incident personnel watched with binoculars as one of the two individuals put a scoped rifle on a bi-pod and looked up the mountain toward them," it reads.

"They continued to wave until a shot was fired ... they then bailed off the backside of the mountain to take cover as a second shot rang out."

(story continues...)

"Two men were located inside the fire area closure ... they were shooting ground squirrels/marmots and reportedly bear hunting," the Forest Service said in a statement.

"They were issued Violation Notices by USDA Forest Service Law Enforcement Officers for violation of the closure order."

Now that story absolutely fries my cookies!!!!   Why in the bloody hell weren't they arrested and charged with everything they could throw at them??? Like assault with a deadly weapon to start with !!  Sorry Aussie Firefighters, not all of us think this is ok!  His word against mine, I guess, but considering they were breaking the law by being there, why would I take anything they said as truth? So shooting poor animals as they ran from the fire, lowest of the low.
