@ MESmeRISe  strange you mention high up in the trees.  What roosts high up in trees? BIRDS.  I don't want to quote anyone, because I could get it wrong, but one of our very knowledgeable members says that BIRD FLU IS flying Ebola. That they CAN contain it, it is meant to scare the crap out of us, to quarantine us and to use untested drugs on us.  Zmapp, and the ones who died even after it was given to them comes to mind for me. Our entity said copper is our only protection against bacterias/viruses on this time line.  Does make me wonder about the use of colloidal copper right about now.

@breezy, that is very interesting that Bird Flu is flying Ebola (whoever suggested that, thanks!). The article I posted in #112 , mentioned bats and other forest creatures acting as reservoirs for the Ebola virus, so birds definitely fit into that category.  Hmmmmm... *looks at the large flocks of birds outside my window*...

Thanks also for the reminder on copper as I didn't remember the Entity had mentioned it.  :-*

Ebola becoming harder to treat —US experts •It is taking toll on Nigeria’s economy —OBJ

August 31, 2014

Stephen Gbadamosi And Olayinka Olukoya

'AS countries across the world battle to contain the spreads of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), the killer ailment appears to be devising means of circumventing efforts to stop it, researchers have said.

Experts claim that the virus is “rapidly and continually mutating, making it harder to diagnose and treat.”

This is just as former President Olusegun Obasanjo declared, on Saturday, that the index case, Patrick Sawyer, in a “devilish” connivance with some Liberian authorities, intentionally brought the disease to Nigeria.

He also noted that the disease, which he said had become a global problem, had been taking a toll on Nigeria’s economy, charging the Federal Government to partner the World Health Organisation (WHO), European Union (EU) and government of America in containing the virus.

snip

According to Daily Mail, the researchers’ findings, “reported in the journal, Science, could have important implications for rapid field diagnostic tests.

“The team found more than 300 genetic changes that make the 2014 Ebola virus genomes distinct from the viral genomes tied to previous Ebola outbreaks.

“They also found variations in the genome sequence indicating that, from the samples analysed, the outbreak started from a single introduction into humans, subsequently spreading from person to person over many months.

“To accelerate response efforts, the research team released the full-length sequences on the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)’s DNA sequence database, in advance of publication. This means the data is available to the global scientific community.”

Ebola epidemic 'spiraling out of control,' CDC director says
September 3, 2014

"The Ebola epidemic is “spiraling out of control,” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Tom Frieden said Tuesday.

“It is the world’s first Ebola epidemic, and it’s spiraling out of control. It’s bad now, and it’s going to get worse in the very near future. There is still a window of opportunity to tamp it down, but that window is closing. We really have to act now,” he said on “CBS This Morning.”

Frieden recently returned from a trip to countries in West Africa affected by Ebola. He described it as a “horrific” situation but said treatment centers are increasing survival rates."

CDC: 'Window Is Closing' on Containing Ebola

September 2, 2014

"At a press conference Tuesday, CDC Director Tom Frieden warned that time is running out to contain West Africa’s Ebola outbreak.

Days after returning from West Africa, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Thomas Frieden opened a press conference with a sobering admonition about the effort to contain the Ebola epidemic to West Africa: “The window is closing.”

In an impassioned call to action, he urged American doctors, nurses, and health care professionals to join Africa in its fight. “This isn’t just the countries’ problem,” he said. “It’s a global problem.” With vivid detail, Frieden painted a gruesome picture of overcrowded isolation centers in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, where health care workers are struggling to keep up with “basic care.” He mentioned deficiencies not only in the number of doctors, nurses, and health managers available, but the protective gear needed to keep them safe. Without an immediate change in the current landscape, he said, the worst is yet to come. “The level of outbreak is beyond anything we’ve seen—or even imagined,” Frieden said."

Ebola Killed 31 In Dr Congo: Minister

September 3, 2014

"At least 31 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) had died of the deadly Ebola virus, Congolese Health Minister Felix Kabange said Tuesday.
The outbreak started last month in the Equateur province, about 800 kilometers northeast of capital Kinshasa, prompting the authorities to seal off the affected area where more than 50 confirmed cases are currently receiving treatment, Kabange told a press conference with officials from the World Health Organization.
Nearly 200 others are under surveillance over suspicion that they might have contracted the virus, he noted.
The isolation of the worst affected area in the province, Boende Region, is expected to limit the spread of the outbreak, the minister said.
The U.N. had already allocated $1.5 million to help the country fight Ebola."

Ebola outbreak: call to send in military to west Africa to help curb epidemic

Sarah Boseley

September 2, 2014

"Military teams should be sent to west Africa immediately if there is to be any hope of controlling the Ebola epidemic, doctors on the frontline told the United Nations on Tuesday, painting a stark picture of health workers dying, patients left without care and infectious bodies lying in the streets.

The international president of Médecins sans Frontières (MSF), Dr Joanne Liu, told member states that although alarm bells had been ringing for six months, the response had been too little, too late and no amount of vaccinations and new drugs would be able to prevent the escalating disaster.

"Six months into the worst Ebola epidemic in history, the world is losing the battle to contain it," Liu said.

"In west Africa, cases and deaths continue to surge," she said. "Riots are breaking out. Isolation centres are overwhelmed. Health workers on the frontline are becoming infected and are dying in shocking numbers.

"Others have fled in fear, leaving people without care for even the most common illnesses. Entire health systems have crumbled."

U.N. says $600 million needed to tackle Ebola as deaths top 1,900

By Toni Clarke and Saliou Samb

September 3, 2014

"(Reuters) - The United Nations said $600 million in supplies would be needed to fight West Africa's Ebola outbreak, as the death toll from the worst ever epidemic of the virus topped 1,900 and Guinea warned it had penetrated a new part of the country.

The pace of the infection has accelerated, and there were close to 400 deaths in the past week, officials said on Wednesday. It was first detected deep in the forests of southeastern Guinea in March.

The hemorrhagic fever has spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria, and Senegal, and has killed more people than all outbreaks since Ebola was first uncovered in 1976. There are no approved Ebola vaccines or treatments.

An experimental Ebola vaccine that Canada said it would give to the World Health Organization for use in Africa was as of Wednesday still in the lab that developed it as officials are puzzled over how to transport it."

Massachusetts Doctor Contracts Ebola

September 3, 2014

By Marc Fortier and Kathryn Sotnik

"The third American Ebola patient has been identified as Dr. Rick Sacra, 51, of Boston, according to officials with the aid group SIM USA"

A third American aid worker who has contracted Ebola has been identified as Dr. Rick Sacra, 51, of Massachusetts, according to officials with the aid group SIM.

The news was announced at an 11 a.m. news conference with SIM officials in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Francis Anthes, president and CEO of Family Health Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, confirmed Wednesday that Sacra worked there. He said they last had contact with Sacra's family on Tuesday when they were notified that he had contracted Ebola.

Sacra, who is from Holden, Massachusetts, was in Liberia with SIM, the aid group that has been at the forefront of the fight against Ebola in West Africa. He was reportedly delivering babies in the SIM hospital's obstetrics unit in Liberia and not treating Ebola patients. He also headed up a residency program there.

How he came down with the disease is still a mystery"

Calls intensify for international military response to Ebola

September 5, 2014

By Caelainn Hogan

"As the Ebola epidemic threatens to overwhelm response efforts in West Africa, calls for international military assistance are picking up.

The medical charity Doctors Without Borders called on world leaders to send military units with expertise in biohazard containment to combat the worst outbreak of the virus on record.

The European Commission’s humanitarian arm (ECHO) is also calling  for military medical intervention to combat the epidemic, including U.S. Army and Navy Seal protection teams."

Sierra Leone contemplates nationwide shutdown over Ebola

September 5, 2014

Kemo Cham

"An aide to Sierra Leone's President has said the president was "seriously" contemplating a nationwide shutdown to contain spread of Ebola.

For weeks now there has been speculation about a planned 21-day nationwide quarantine to prevent sick people from moving around, a situation that has seen the virus spread uncontrollably. The government had denied that it intended to take such drastic measures to contain the virus but the aide Ben Kargbo, a insider in the government, said Wednesday that President Ernest Bai Koroma was now considering it. "The decision has not been taken yet, but to stop people from running around, this is very important," he said in an interview."

Michael Gerson: Nature's out to kill us

September 5, 2014

Michael Gerson

"WASHINGTON — Sometimes the artifice of writing — metaphors, historical comparisons, the just-so quote — fails. The Ebola outbreak in West Africa demands directness: We are about to witness a human catastrophe that could destroy large portions of a continent and pose a global threat. And the response of the world, including the United States, is feeble, irresponsible and disrespectful of nature's lethal perils.

American health officials and nonprofit groups are bringing back the same report from the region. In Liberia, the rate of new infections has probably already moved from a linear to an exponential curve. The same may be true within the next week or so for Sierra Leone and Guinea. The normal countermeasures for an infectious disease — isolation, case investigation, contact tracing — are increasingly irrelevant given the rate of increase. Local health care infrastructure, which barely existed in the first place, is overwhelmed. People have lost faith in the large clinics, where 50 percent to  60 percent of patients who enter do not leave alive. And those in need of emergency care for other conditions — such as heart attacks or complicated births — are often frightened of clinics and hospitals, and are dying without treatment."

Sierra Leone to put entire country in 3-day Ebola lockdown

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone – Authorities are ordering people in Sierra Leone to stay inside their homes for three days later this month as part of an effort to stop the spread of Ebola, which has killed more than 2,000 people across West Africa, a government spokesman said Saturday.

Abdulai Bayraytay said the government is telling people to stay inside their homes on Sept. 19, 20 and 21. The dates were chosen to give people enough time to stock up on food and other provisions before the ban on movement goes into effect, he said.

Already though some are questioning whether the measure will help. Doctors Without Borders says it “will be extremely difficult for health workers to accurately identify cases through door-to-door screening.”

Doctor: Ebola virus cases may be underreported by as much ‘double or triple’

September 7, 2014

Mike Opeika

"Despite knowing that he had symptoms of the Ebola virus, a Nigerian diplomat boards a plane in Liberia and flies from that small country to his nation’s capital city of Lagos, a city with 21 million people. The man was fleeing a quarantine meant to contain the Ebola virus. Instead, his body — now a host for the disease — was transporting the highly contagious and deadly, single-strand virus to Nigeria’s largest city.

It sounds like a plot from a medical sci-fi thriller, but it is not fiction.

This is quite real.

The diplomat was treated by a doctor and appears to have survived. However, the doctor was not so fortunate. He died less than three weeks after the encounter.

The Nigerian doctor who visited the diplomat in his hotel room and became infected with Ebola also saw hundreds of patients — operating on at least two of them before he ultimately passed away from the disease.

Nigeria’s government acted quickly to try to stop the outbreak from engulfing the region. However, with hundreds of people who had close contact with the now-deceased doctor and several others who were infected, it may be a losing battle.

Resentment simmers in Liberia's 'Ebola jail town'

Dolo Town (Liberia) (AFP) - Trapped since officials placed them in quarantine two weeks ago, the residents of Dolo Town are becoming increasingly resentful over their incarceration in Liberia's open "Ebola jail".

Around 17,000 increasingly hungry residents in the settlement, close to the international airport, are forced to queue for rations of rice while soldiers blockade them in at gunpoint.

The usually-packed streets are almost empty, as residents observe quarantine measures in a bid to halt a particularly severe outbreak of a virus which has killed 2,000 west Africans, half of them in Liberia.

Dolo Town, 75 kilometres (47 miles) east of Monrovia, was placed in lockdown on August 20 at the same time as West Point, a slum in the capital.

While the West Point lockdown caused riots, people have largely accepted the measures to contain them in Dolo Town. But their patience is wearing thin.

- 'No sick people' -

Despite the lockdown, despite the death which stalks Dolo Town, many of the inhabitants interviewed by AFP are sceptical about the claim that they are in an Ebola hotspot.

"Since the government quarantined this place for about two weeks now, they have not taken any sick person from here. We have not seen any case yet," Reginald Logan tells AFP.

Ebola kills 2,300, nearly half of deaths in past 21 days: WHO
September 9, 2014

"Geneva (AFP) - The Ebola epidemic in west Africa has claimed nearly 2,300 lives, the World Health Organization said Tuesday, stressing that nearly half had died in less than a month.
As of September 6, 2,288 people had died in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Libera out of 4,269 cases, the UN's health agency said.
A full 47 percent of the deaths and 49 percent of the cases had come in the prior 21 days, it said.
The countries bearing the brunt of the epidemic are among the world's poorest, with dilapidated medical infrastructures buckling under the strain."

Mathematical Model Shows How Ebola Will Spread: "Worse Case Scenario... An Extinction Event"

Then there is this one. ?? rise for me, considering they took those people to India that had been exposed, and if they didn't have a fever, let them go. They say the one story is a hoax, but it would behoove them not to admit it if it were true.  The fact that they are tracking so many people, when it only takes one, in so many places not equipped to care for them, is downright scary. Let's hope it doesn't get started.

Ebola in India: Over 1,000 Indians being tracked for Ebola

September 8, 2014

"A total of 1,011 Indians, who have returned from Ebola-affected areas, are being tracked for the virus, the heath ministry Sunday said. Most of those being tracked are from the states of Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi, an official release said here.

During the past 24 hours, 201 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the airports of Mumbai (88), Delhi (58), Chennai (24), Bangalore (15), Kochi (11), Thiruvananthapuram (4) and Kolkata (1). The health ministry said that while no passenger has been isolated at the quarantine facility Sunday, 16,531 passengers have been screened till date.

All respective state governments have been provided with the details. According to the WHO, there have been about 3,500 confirmed or probable Ebola cases and more than 1,900 deaths from the deadly disease in West African countries."

Ebola death toll skyrockets by almost 200 in one day
September 10, 2014

"GENEVA—

The death toll from the worst Ebola outbreak in history has jumped by almost 200 in a single day to at least 2,296 and is already likely to be higher than that, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.

The WHO said it had recorded 4,293 cases in five West African countries as of Sept. 6, a day after its previous update.

But it still did not have new figures for Liberia, the worst-affected country, suggesting the true toll is already much higher. The WHO has said it expects thousands of new cases in Liberia in the next three weeks.

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said on Tuesday she expects the Ebola crisis gripping her country to worsen in the coming weeks as health workers struggle with inadequate supplies, a lack of outside support and a population in fear.

"It remains a very grave situation," she told an audience at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, via Skype from Liberia's capital Monrovia. "It is taking a long time to respond effectively .... We expect it to accelerate for at least another two or three weeks before we can look forward to a decline."

Liberia's defense minister told the United Nations Security Council that Ebola posed a mortal threat to the country."

World Health Organisation says Ebola will claim 20,000 lives in next six months

September 9, 2014

"THE World Health Organisation has issued a terrifying warning: Ebola will claim 20,000 lives within the next six months.

The virus, which is spiralling out of control in Western Africa, has already claimed 2300 lives, the international health body reports. More than half of that figure have died in the past 21 days alone.

Originating in Guinea earlier this year, more than 4200 people have since been sickened in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal.

“As soon as a new Ebola treatment facility is opened, it immediately fills to overflowing with patients, pointing to a large but previously invisible caseload,” WHO said in a statement. “Many thousands of new cases are expected in Liberia over the coming three weeks.”

A Doctors Withour Borders statement was equally blunt, saying the virus was moving “catastrophically through the population much faster than new facilities are being created.”

Oxford study predicts 15 more countries are at risk of Ebola exposure

September 8, 2014

"Until this year's epidemic, Ebola did not exist in West Africa. Now with nearly 2,300 people dead from the virus, mostly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, scientists still don't fully understand how Ebola arrived from Central Africa, where outbreaks of this strain of the virus had occurred in the past.

A new model by Oxford University, published in the journal eLife, takes a look at the most likely explanation -- that Ebola's animal reservoir, fruit bats, could spread the disease in the animal kingdom and to humans through the dense forest that spans 22 countries."

EXCLUSIVE: Ebola Survivor Kent Brantly Donates Blood to Treat Rick Sacra

By Maggie Fox

Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly donated a unit of blood to treat the third American aid worker infected with the virus as doctors fight to save the patient’s life, Samaritan’s Purse tells NBC News. Brantly flew to Nebraska last week to donate his blood to use to treat Dr. Rick Sacra, Samaritan's Purse President and CEO Franklin Graham said. "He flew out from North Carolina to Nebraska to give a unit of blood," Graham said in an interview with NBC News. "His blood was a perfect match."

Sacra, a volunteer who was working in Liberia for another group, SIM, is being treated at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

"It really meant a lot to us that he was willing to give that donation so soon after his own recovery," Sacra's wife, Debbie Sacra, told a news conference. "We both marveled at the fact that they had the same blood type."

Using serum from the survivor of a disease is not a new approach, but it's considered highly experimental. Last week the World Health Organization endorsed the approach, saying it was worth trying. The idea is that survivors have antibodies to the virus in their blood, and those antibodies can kick-start the immune system of another patient.

Graham thinks it helped. "Dr. Brantly said that when he saw him last week he was in pretty bad shape," Graham said. "It sounds like he has made a dramatic turn." Sacra was reported up and joking as he underwent treatment at Nebraska's special biocontainment unit.

Virologist: Fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia is lost

September 11, 2014

"The killer virus is spreading like wildfire, Liberia's defense minister said on Tuesday as he pleaded for UN assistance. A German Ebola expert tells DW the virus must "burn itself out" in that part of the world.

His statement might alarm many people.

But Jonas Schmidt-Chanasit of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg told DW that he and his colleagues are losing hope for Sierra Leone and Liberia, two of the countries worst hit by the recent Ebola epidemic.

"The right time to get this epidemic under control in these countries has been missed," he said. That time was May and June. "Now it is too late."

Schmidt-Chanasit expects the virus will "burn itself out" in this part of the world.

With other words: It will more or less infect everybody and half of the population - in total about five million people - could die.

Stop the virus from spilling over to other countries

Schmidt-Chanasit knows that it is a hard thing to say.

He stresses that he doesn't want international help to stop. Quite the contrary: He demands "massive help"."

Ebola in the air? A nightmare that could happen

Elizabeth Cohen

September 12, 2014

"(CNN) -- Today, the Ebola virus spreads only through direct contact with bodily fluids, such as blood and vomit. But some of the nation's top infectious disease experts worry that this deadly virus could mutate and be transmitted just by a cough or a sneeze.

"It's the single greatest concern I've ever had in my 40-year public health career," said Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. "I can't imagine anything in my career -- and this includes HIV -- that would be more devastating to the world than a respiratory transmissible Ebola virus."

Osterholm and other experts couldn't think of another virus that has made the transition from non-airborne to airborne in humans. They say the chances are relatively small that Ebola will make that jump. But as the virus spreads, they warned, the likelihood increases.

Every time a new person gets Ebola, the virus gets another chance to mutate and develop new capabilities. Osterholm calls it "genetic roulette."

Ebola Cases Rise Rapidly in Congo

September 11, 2014

Rick Gladstone

"The number of Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo doubled over the past week to 62, the World Health Organization reported Thursday, and more than half the afflicted patients have died.

The outbreak in the country, where the Ebola virus was first discovered nearly 40 years ago, is a distinct strain from the far more drastic Ebola crisis ravaging West Africa, where more than 2,200 people have died this year, the worst on record. The Congo outbreak, by contrast, is confined to four villages in one county, and is linked to one initial case, first reported to the health organization on Aug. 26.

Still, the doubling of Congo cases during the week ending Tuesday, reported by the W.H.O. in an update on its website, reflected Ebola’s contagious risks. The virus, which causes high fevers, vomiting, diarrhea and internal bleeding, with a fatality rate as high as 90 percent, is spread through person-to-person contact."

I am not usually prone to unsubstantiated ( medically) info but when my spirit guides give me a warning like this ...it needs to be shared.( and I wouldn't put it past them),this just in last night...

They said that 1.34 Billion people have been infected with the E-bola virus via vaccines and air borne chem-trail spraying- all over the world. That this virus is also accompanied by a "zombie'virus" which apparently could make people into some undead type of body. The virus goes dormant when life functions stop but is activated by secretions via the penal gland after death and "animates" the body to a half living state...

although not all people will be affected. Some people have a protective amino acid which prevents this from happening.

There are some measures that can be taken to counteract it. Geographic places that exude a large amount of negative ions will be largely safe or safer in general. I cannot state it loudly enough that frequency is KEY to dealing with these type of things and my experience is that the rodin coils are essential to the implementation of the protective and healing force and the interface between biological tissue and the frequency generated.

That all being said, I trust my guides, they have saved my life more than once.

Love ya all!

4th doctor dies of Ebola in Sierra Leone

By CLARENCE ROY-MACAULAY

September 14, 2014

"FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) — Sierra Leone has lost a fourth doctor to Ebola after a failed effort to transfer her abroad for medical treatment, a government official said Sunday, a huge setback to the impoverished country that is battling the virulent disease amid a shortage of health care workers.

Dr. Olivet Buck died late Saturday, hours after the World Health Organization said it could not help medically evacuate her to Germany, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brima Kargbo confirmed to The Associated Press.

Sierra Leone had requested funds from WHO to transport Buck to Europe, saying the country could not afford to lose another doctor."

"U.S. government to buy 160,000 Ebola hazmat suits to prepare for full-blown global pandemic: Listen to Episode Three of Pandemic Preparedness
September 14, 2014

Mike Adams

"(NaturalNews) The U.S. State Department has just put out a bid for 160,000 Ebola hazmat suits, announced a U.S. manufacturer called "Lakeland Industries." The company's press release, published at Yahoo Finance, reads:

With the U.S. State Department alone putting out a bid for 160,000 suits, we encourage all protective apparel companies to increase their manufacturing capacity for sealed seam garments so that our industry can do its part in addressing this threat to global health.

This is just the latest sign that the U.S. government is now preparing for a full-blown global outbreak of Ebola which would reach U.S. cities."

Ebola: 'In decades of humanitarian work, I've never seen such suffering'

September 15, 2014

"I wake up each morning – if I have managed to sleep – wondering if this is really happening, or if it is a horror movie. In decades of humanitarian work I have never witnessed such relentless suffering of fellow human beings or felt so completely paralysed and utterly overwhelmed at our inability to provide anything but the most basic, and sometimes less than adequate, care.

I am supervising the suspect tent, which has room for 25 patients who are likely to have Ebola – 80-90% of those we test have the virus. We administer treatment for malaria, start patients on antibiotics, paracetamol, multivitamins, rehydration supplements, food, water and juice while they wait for their results. Sometimes people have arrived too late and die shortly after arriving.

In one afternoon last week I watched five seemingly fit, healthy, young men die. I gave the first a bottle of oral rehydration solution and came back with another for the second. In the half a minute or so in which I had been away the first man died, his bottle of water spilt across the floor. The four others followed in quick succession."

Suuzz - interesting info regarding zombification as I keep turning up that same scenerio again and again from different sources, it's no coincidence that the recent movies are subliminally interjecting that same theme ~segue~  just looking for a clarification here  -- did you mean 'renal' gland  or perhaps 'pineal' gland -- because if it's penal gland then half the world is "BONED'.

MUST READ! Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death…Dr. Ada Igonoh survived Ebola – This is her Story

September 15, 2014

By BellaNaija.com

"As Nigeria battles with the outbreak of Ebola, we consistently commend the dedication and selflessness of the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals."

"Lives have been lost, and families have had to undergo the trauma of isolation. The fear of the unknown even very crippling. We read about the numbers in the news, but when we put a face to the news reports, it brings it home. Dr. Ada Igonoh of First Consultants Hospital is one of the doctors who attended to Patrick Sawyer. She was infected by the virus and miraculously, she survives to share her story with BellaNaija.

It is a long read but definitely worth reading as Dr. Ada details her experience. It’s a really gripping read which shows the story of strength, faith and dedication. We are grateful to Ada for sharing her story with us."

"On the night of Sunday July 20, 2014, Patrick Sawyer was wheeled into the Emergency Room at First Consultants Medical Centre, Obalende, Lagos, with complaints of fever and body weakness. The male doctor on call admitted him as a case of malaria and took a full history. Knowing that Mr Sawyer had recently arrived from Liberia, the doctor asked if he had been in contact with an Ebola patient in the last couple of weeks, and Mr. Sawyer denied any such contact. He also denied attending any funeral ceremony recently. Blood samples were taken for full blood count, malaria parasites, liver function test and other baseline investigations. He was admitted into a private room and started on antimalarial drugs and analgesics. That night, the full blood count result came back as normal and not indicative of infection.

The following day however, his condition worsened. He barely ate any of his meals. His liver function test result showed his liver enzymes were markedly elevated. We then took samples for HIV and hepatitis screening.
At about 5.00pm, he requested to see a doctor. I was the doctor on call that night so I went in to see him. He was lying in bed with his intravenous (I.V.) fluid bag removed from its metal stand and placed beside him. He complained that he had stooled about five times that evening and that he wanted to use the bathroom again. I picked up the I.V. bag from his bed and hung it back on the stand. I told him I would inform a nurse to come and disconnect the I.V. so he could conveniently go to the bathroom. I walked out of his room and went straight to the nurses’ station where I told the nurse on duty to disconnect his I.V. I then informed my Consultant, Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh about the patient’s condition and she asked that he be placed on some medications.

The following day, the results for HIV and hepatitis screening came out negative. As we were preparing for the early morning ward rounds, I was approached by an ECOWAS official who informed me that Patrick Sawyer had to catch an 11 o’clock flight to Calabar for a retreat that morning. He wanted to know if it would be possible. I told him it wasn’t, as he was acutely ill. Dr. Adadevoh also told him the patient could certainly not leave the hospital in his condition. She then instructed me to write very boldly on his chart that on no account should Patrick Sawyer be allowed out of the hospital premises without the permission of Dr. Ohiaeri, our Chief Medical Consultant. All nurses and doctors were duly informed."

'Black Death' Was Caused By Ebola Virus - Not Bubonic Plague

By Steve Connor Science Editor

The Independent - London

7-23-1

History textbooks have got it wrong about the Black Death, which they say was caused by bubonic plague spread by rats and their fleas. A new study suggests that it was in fact caused by an Ebola-like virus transmitted directly from person to person.

If the findings are confirmed it could mean that a modern form of the Black Death can emerge without requiring the insanitary conditions of the Middle Ages.

Generations of schoolchildren have been told that the plague bacteria transmitted by flea bites caused the great pestilences of medieval Europe which first appeared in the 14th century and killed at least 25 million people more than a quarter of the entire population in over a 300-year period. But two infectious disease specialists who have analysed the Black Death have concluded that it bears a closer resemblance to modern outbreaks of haemorrhagic fever caused by the Ebola virus.

They also claim that a key mutation in a gene that protects people against infection by the Aids virus is estimated to have appeared at about the same time as the Black Death and served a similar function in that it gave carriers some protection against the virus.

Both observations point to an Ebola-like virus rather than bubonic plague bacteria as being responsible, according to professors Christopher Duncan and Susan Scott, of the University of Liverpool.

"Intuitively, the Black Death has all the hallmarks of a viral disease rather than one caused by plague bacteria. The history books are wrong, there's little doubt about that," said Professor Duncan, who studies the way epidemics spread.

The first recorded outbreak of the Black Death occurred at the Sicilian port of Messina in 1347 and was brought in by Genoese galleys returning from the Crimea on the Black Sea.

A year later the disease arrived in the West Country of England and soon spread to towns and cities where it caused fear and panic among a superstitious population who thought the red blotches on the chest of affected individuals were "God's tokens".

Professor Duncan said people soon learnt that the only effective way of dealing with the Black Death was to put affected families and even entire villages into quarantine for 40 days. "A quarantine period was first instituted in the city states of northern Italy in the late 14th century and this was gradually adopted throughout Europe and maintained for the next 300 years until the plague disappeared," professors Duncan and Scott say in their book Biology of Plagues.

A quarantine would not have been effective if the disease was spread by rat fleas," said Professor Duncan. "Rats don't respect quarantines. This disease was transmitted directly from person to person which suggests an infectious virus."

Bubonic plagues spread in a complex fashion because they rely on the interaction of fleas, rats and people. Yet the pattern of spread of the Black Death was relatively simple and predictable, indicating person-to-person transmission.

"Endemic bubonic plague is essentially a rural disease because it is an infection of rodents," the book says. "The Black Death, in contrast, struck indiscriminately in the countryside and towns."

The symptoms of the Black Death point to a haemorrhagic fever caused by an Ebola-like virus. The fever struck suddenly, it caused aching and bleeding from internal organs, as well as red blotches caused by the effusion of blood under the skin in classic symptoms of Ebola-like illnesses.

Professor Duncan said there was further evidence to back his theory in the form of a mutation in a key gene ñ called CCR5 ñ involved in conferring some protection against HIV. Scientists have found that this mutation arose only in Europe at about the time of the Black Death and its high frequency suggests it probably offered resistance against the virus.

Professor Duncan said: "Historians jumped on the bubonic plague idea in the early 20th-century when the disease was first described in India but ... it was certainly not the causative agent in the Black Death or in any other of the outbreaks in England."

200,000 from Ebola countries have visas to enter U.S.

September 15, 2014

Paul Bedard

"There are about 200,000 Africans from countries hosting the deadly Ebola virus who hold temporary visas to visit the United States, greatly raising the stakes it could spread to America, according to a group following the immigration issue.

“Based on State Department nonimmigrant visa issuance statistics, I estimate that there are about 5,000 people in Guinea, 5,000 people in Sierra Leone, and 3,500 people in Liberia who possess visas to come to the United States today,” said Jessica M. Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies.

Add to that “more than 195,000 Nigerians” with visas to visit, or who could already be here, she said of the country that has seen temporary U.S. visas skyrocket.

The government has promised that the U.S. is safe, but that’s not good enough for Vaughan. “At this time, with an extremely serious public health threat and more than 200,000 people who potentially could enter and spread it, either knowingly or unknowingly, the State Department and Department of Homeland Security should disclose to the public what they are doing to prevent travelers infected with Ebola from entering the country,” she told Secrets."

Gov’t Says All U.S. Health Care Facilities Need to Be Ready for Ebola: Here’s the Checklist

September 15, 2014

Liz Klimas

"While government officials and top doctors have maintained that they don’t think Ebola will become a widespread issue in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending all health care facilities in the country “be prepared for managing patients with infectious diseases such as Ebola virus disease.”

Issuing a facility preparedness “checklist,” the CDC recommended that facilities begin reviewing their infection control policies and procedures now.

“Facilities should also define the individual work practices that will be required to detect the introduction of a patient with [Ebola virus disease] or other emerging infectious disease, prevent spread and manage the impact on patients, the facility and staff,” the CDC wrote.

Just to add a conspiracy angle to this>> In William Bramley's best seller THE GODS OF EDEN

in the chapter BLACK DEATH  he provides a lot of evidence that the Black Death was spread by men dressed in black on horses....

This is possible where Tolkien got the idea for the 9 Black Riders in Lord of the Rings...

The image of the grim reaper  with the black robed figure with a scythe first appeared with the black plague...

Interesting Marlowe, thanks.

There’s so many questions that keep coming into my head regarding this outbreak. The first is that they’ve identified over 400 mutations of the virus from victims in the current outbreak in a recent report. That’s scary. Haven’t checked yet whether “mutations” means strain/subtype or other yet.

Another is that there have been cases (this includes when a strain was introduced to a country for research and not necessarily an outbreak) in England (1-’76 first reported case of Sudan virus outside Africa), Russia (2- ’96, ’04), Italy (1-’92 wtf), the US (3- ’89,’90, ’96) and the Philippines (3- ’89/90, ’96, ’08), including the first known case of “Reston-Ebola virus” found in pigs (Nov, 2008), as this is where the US CDC had been getting monkeys from for their bio-warfare tests. The same lab provided the monkeys for Italy and the two Russian cases were from lab contamination. In one American case '90, there was a situation where four workers showed antibodies, but did not get sick.

So, it hasn’t been just the US monkeying around with Ebola strains. But it might be why the CDC has so many non-native strains, and why they chose the sub-types to develop vaccines, as humans have  higher resistance to the Reston-Ebola than the more virulent Afro strains. It would also explain why there are so many vaccines lining up to be tested from different parts of the world, for as I’ve stated  before, Ebola has historically so few victims that no large Pharma would spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a cure that may never be used. On the other hand, if you had been sitting on a cure for a long time and were keen to see some returns, an outbreak of a very virulent form would allow you to recoup a shit-load of past expenditure.

Ebola-Reston virus is obviously nowhere near as harmful as it’s African relative, but it might answer questions as too why this outbreak is so virulent, if perhaps a non native African strain was introduced to a Afro native strain. But somewhere along the way, you would think they would still have to beef up the RE strain to develop a vaccine for Afro Ebola, and I’m wondering if to do that you would have to blend the various subtypes at some point, but how do you find human guinea pigs to test the new vaccines?.

It is probably just a coincident, but in 1976, the first two strains of Ebola were identified, Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Sudan virus in Sudan. This was only months after the fourteen year Angolan war wrapped up, and the same year England had it’s first case of Sudan virus caused by a prick from a contaminated needle, contaminated by whom?

Anyway, on a lighter note Marlowe, whilst I haven’t read William Bramley’s The Gods of Eden yet (still rereading Andrew Collins GOE), I noticed some interesting comments by WB. From “The Black Death” chapter-

To solve these puzzles, an historian would normally look to records from the Plague years to see what people were reporting. When he does so, he encounters stories so stun- ning and unbelievable that he is likely to reject them as the fantasies and superstitions of badly frightened minds. A great many people throughout Europe and other Plague- stricken regions of the world were reporting that outbreaks of the Plague were caused by foul-smelling "mists." Those mists frequently appeared after unusually bright lights in the sky. The historian quickly discovers that "mists" and bright lights were reported far more frequently and in many more locations than were rodent infestations. The Plague years were, in fact, a period of heavy UFO activity.

What; then, were the mysterious mists?

There is another very important way in which plague germs can be transmitted: through germ weapons. The Unit- ed States and the Soviet Union today have stockpiles of biological weapons containing bubonic plague and other epidemic diseases. The germs are kept alive in cannisters which spray the diseases into the air on thick, often visible, artificial mists. Anyone breathing in the mist will inhale the disease. There are enough such germ weapons today to wipe out a good portion of humanity. Reports of iden- tical disease-inducing mists from the Plague years strongly suggest that the Black Death was caused by germ warfare. Let us take a look at the incredible reports which lead to that conclusion.

The first outbreak of the Plague in Europe followed an unusual series of events. Between 1298 and 1314, seven large "comets" were seen over Europe; one was of "awe- inspiring blackness."1 One year before the first outbreak of the epidemic in Europe, a "column of fire" was reported over the Pope's* palace at Avignon, France. Earlier that year, a "ball of fire" was observed over Paris; it reportedly remained visible to observers for some time. To the people of Europe, these sightings were considered omens of the Plague which soon followed.

It is true that some reported "comets" were probably just that: comets. Some may also have been small meteors or fireballs (large blazing meteors). Centuries ago, people were generally far more superstitious than they are today and so natural meteors and similar prosaic phenomena were often reported as precursors to later disasters even though there was no real-life connection. On the other hand, it is important to note that almost any unusual object in the sky was called a "comet." A good example is found in a bestselling book published in 1557: A Chronicle of Prodigies and Portents . . .** by Conrad Lycosthenes. On page 494 of Lycosthenes' book we read of a "comet" observed in the year 1479: "A comet was seen in Arabia in the manner of a sharply pointed wooden beam ..." The accompanying illustration, which was based on eyewitness descriptions, shows what clearly looks like the front half of a rocketship among some clouds. The object appears to have many portholes. Today we would call the object a UFO, not a comet. This leads us to wonder how many other ancient "comets" were actually similar rocketlike objects. When we are confronted with-an old report of a comet, we therefore do not really know what kind of thing we are dealing with unless there is a fuller description. A report of a sudden increase in "comets" or similar celes- tial phenomena may, in fact, mean an increase in UFO activity.
