ISIS guide teaches jihadis how to blend in

January 11, 2016

"SHAVE your beard, wear western-style clothes and act Christian.

These are some of Islamic State’s tips to help jihadists blend in as they plan attacks in western countries.

The 62-page Safety & Security Guidelines for Lone Wolf Mujahideen (Jihadis) provides an unsettling glimpse at the lengths Islamic State recruits will go to in their attempt to avoid detection by intelligence services.

The guide recommends that would-be attackers establish cells with four or five members working with only each other and having no link with any other group, to avoid a mass neutralisation.

“If you are the one who established many independent cells or independent small groups, if you get caught, you could be the reason all those groups and cells get dismantled. So your responsibility at that time would be to put yourself in security, by going to the front lines of the open battlefields in Afghanistan or Iraq, or to enlist for a martyrdom operation, so that your secret goes with you. That’s because your mere presence is a danger to all these established cells and groups,” the guide reads.

Limiting the information known by cell members is also important. The guide uses 9/11 as an example:

“ ... only 4 of the 19 knew about the nature of the operation (they were the pilots) and they only gave them the details at the very end of the preparation,” the guide read."

all the bases covered, now think about all those flooding flooding into Europe and the US with their instructions

Unity posted two articles in the shout that I will post here, along w/translations

Important to remember USA and CHINA, are both permanent members of the UN And UNSC and Japan is an elected member of the UNSC until 2017. Neither North or S. Korea are members of either the UN or UNSC.

Statement from first link:

Non-Council Member States

More than 60 United Nations Member States have never been Members of the Security Council.

A State which is a Member of the United Nations but not of the Security Council may participate, without a vote, in its discussions when the Council considers that that country's interests are affected. Both Members and non-members of the United Nations, if they are parties to a dispute being considered by the Council, may be invited to take part, without a vote, in the Council's discussions; the Council sets the conditions for participation by a non-member State.  (reminds me a little of the European Union set up   ie: half baked, and unable to effectively govern)

The UN and UNSC have absolutely NO control over either Korea, but they can issue rules and sanctions over them that they(N. Korea) can and will ignore. However, those who are members (US/China/Japan) will be expected to abide by UN/UNSC rules. Kinda leaves S.Korea, who is definitely in danger from N.Korea's actions, out in the cold!  What a twisted mess.  I believe the US would support S.Korea, It is apparent that S.Korea is looking to China to do as it's supposed to in relation to UN?UNSC, but what is China up to, if they are breaking sanctions already in place against N.Korea?  Such as dealing with them on the sneak, and dragging their feet with negotiations or enforcing the UN/UNSC sanctions, as the following two articles infer they are?  This situation bears watching, methinks.  Thanks for the info unity!

Korean Peninsula Buzzing Full On?: Something is Up in Korean Town in Tokyo

Amid this stuff happening, as in breezy's post (thank you for the transfer of the links & translation!! Google translations always require imagination on our side to understand I found...urgh...(´Д`)), something TRULY weird happened on an OFFICIAL tweet from a Shire in Tokyo about 6 hours ago, TODAY. The Shire is called "Adachi-ku". This shire holds KOREAN TOWN in there.

I suspect that this was a form of an intel message...an URGENT message sent out from Japan to someone, by someone who works for the Korean Peninsula.

I cannot be clear if that'd be to North or South Korea.

Take a look at this pic of a tweet, please.

The tweeted material obviously looks weird to you, even though that's written in Japanese, yeah?

It doesn't make any sense in Japanese either.

The ordinary peeps tweeted back, saying that Adachi-shire gone ga-ga after looking at it.

It's already been deleted, so you can't see it any longer.

The Yahoo link address apparently took you to a vid of Glenn Gould, the famous Canadian pianist.

This official tweets has to be logged on directly to the account in order to dispatch the messages.

There are only small number of people at Adachi-shire to be able to do that.

They are checking wth had happened within themselves, but THIS MUST BE CODED.

And to do such "easily noticed", "something official", "dispatch coded message to be seen by many", is really REALLY smelly.

Usually you'd consider the intel coded message to be sent to the people to be seen by targeted small number of people, yeah?

I guess it literally means that the message was for the larger population from the beginning..

For all the Sleepers to get active...??

And more disturbing thing is that China has the LAW that made every Chinese citizen as their spies, regardless of where they are on the globe....as long as you are a Chinese citizen....

When they are told to do as they are told, they can't reject the calls. If they reject it, their families and themselves would be prosecuted as the traitors.

So, if that was NOT done by the Koreans, then it must have been done by China. (No point for Japanese intel using such weird way to communicate, so that only leaves non-Japanese faction.)

Iran holds 10 U.S. sailors but pledges to release them soon, Pentagon says

January 12, 2016

By Thomas Gibbons-Neff and Missy Ryan

"Two small U.S. Navy vessels were in Iranian custody, but their crews were to be released promptly, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

The boats were en route from Kuwait to Bahrain when they disappeared from the Navy’s scopes.

A senior administration official said that, following communications between Secretary of State John F. Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the State Department believed the situation had been resolved and that release of the sailors was expected “in the next few hours.”

Kerry “made the case very strongly” to Zarif that the incident had stemmed from a mechanical problem aboard one of the boats, and that they appeared to have drifted into Iranian territorial waters. Small American naval craft frequently patrol the waters of the Persian Gulf just beyond Iran’s territorial limit."

Iran Releases Humiliating Images of U.S. Sailors in Captivity

January 13, 2016

Morgan Chalfant

"Iran state television released images of the 10 U.S. sailors that the Iranian military held in custody overnight Tuesday.

ABC News first reported the photos, which appeared after the sailors were released by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Wednesday morning."

Two small Navy boats and their crew were taken into custody Tuesday, Iran accusing them of drifting into Iranian territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.

Ten American sailors fall on their knees as they surrender to Iranian troops - while their commander APOLOGIZES for trespassing in Persian Gulf

January 13, 2016

"Footage shown on the Islamic republic's state television shows the U.S soldiers kneeling with their hands behind their heads, as armed coast guard officials surround them. They remained motionless as they waited to be taken into Iranian custody on Farsi Island - a top secret area of land in the Persian Gulf. After they were escorted off the boats, the nine men and one woman were reportedly interrogated for hours by the IRGC. Wearing combat fatigues and no shoes, the sailors were pictured sitting on a carpet inside a bare room. A female sailor was also seen wearing a makeshift veil she was given by the captors to cover her head. The Pentagon was forced to make a grovelling apology in a bid to get the sailors released, admitting they had traveled into sovereign waters by mistake - just days before the controversial nuclear agreement is set to go into force. But John Kerry's spokesman John Kirby insisted the Secretary of State did not say sorry to his Iranian counterparts - because there was 'nothing to apologize for'."

Just going to mention this.  The word "Humiliation" is sure getting a lot of play the last couple days in regard to the USA regarding Iran.  I don't know the whole story here, but going from Kuwait to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, does not require any close proximity to Farsi Island, which is about 75 miles from shore.  SO WHAT were they doing there?  Drifted?  that is a stretch!

USA fibbing about the boats that Iran grabbed. USA made to look silly.

The USA says that 4 fancy diesel engines, two radios and two GPS systems all went out at the same tome on two boats that have a maximum range of 240 miles that were making a scheduled trip of 285 miles and magically ran up on a 1/2 mile wide island some 55 miles off of their stated coarse because nether boat had an anchor to hold them from drifting off their path when their engines quit.

Incredible, but that is what the USA is asking us to believe.

Each boat has two 625 bhp Scania DSI14 V8Diesel engines, each driving its independent thruster. That means that if even one single engine of the four on the two boats could have kept running, than the one running engine could have towed the other boat and they could have made it back to friendly shores.

"" Pentagon Spokesman Peter Cook, the ships were moving between Bahrain and Kuwait when the Navy lost contact with them

So, Mr. Spokesman is telling us the both the boats radios broke at the same time. He is also telling us that the boats were making a journey of 285 miles if the boats went in the shortest possible strait line from the dock the left to the dock they were going to.

Netanyahu to Seize 154 Hectares of Palestinian Land in Violation of International Law and in Direct Challenge to EU

January 22, 2016

Anthony Bellchambers

"Israel confirmed on Thursday it was planning to appropriate a further large tract of fertile land in the occupied West Bank, near Jericho, in a move likely to exacerbate tensions with Europe and which has already drawn international condemnation.U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon denounced the move and said:

Settlement activities are a violation of international law and run counter to the public pronouncements of the government of Israel supporting a two-state solution to the conflict.

Israel is now in danger of having its trade agreement with the EU suspended due to breach of the specific provisions on human rights. It now risks the consequent imposition of tariffs on all Israeli goods into Europe. The Netanyahu government has chosen to ignore EU warnings and must the bear the consequences which could be severe."

Israeli land grab in occupied territories, yet again

January 21, 2016

Construction in an Israeli illegal settlement in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) January 15,2016 (AFP)

"The Israeli regime has confirmed plans to seize a large tract of fertile Palestinian land for the purpose of expanding its illegal settlement construction in the occupied West Bank. The decision had already been taken to capture the territory and"the lands are in the final stages of being declared" Israeli lands, Reuters quoted a unit in the Israeli Ministry for Military Affairs, which coordinates Tel Aviv's activities in the occupied territories, as saying.

Earlier this week, Israeli media reported that the Tel Aviv regime is to confiscate 380 acres (154 hectares) of agricultural land in the Jordan Valley near the West Bank city of Jericho over the coming weeks. The planned land grab will be the largest since August 2014.

Hanan Ashrawi, a senior member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), denounced the seizure, saying it breaches the international law."

China Backs Establishment of Independent State of Palestine with Jerusalem as Its Capital

January 22, 2016

Press TV

"China has lent its support to the establishment of the State of Palestine with East al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Chinese President Xi Jinping made the remarks during an address at the Arab League’s headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Thursday.

He said such state should be established based on the 1967 borders and enjoy full sovereignty.

That year saw Israel occupying and then annexing the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds during the Six-Day War in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.

Xi’s remarks echoed the demands of Palestinians, who are seeking to create an independent state on the occupied territories as well as the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip.

In 2012, the United Nations General Assembly voted to upgrade Palestine’s status at the UN from “non-member observer entity” to “non-member observer state” despite strong opposition from Israel and the United States. The Palestinian flag was also raised for the first time at the UN headquarters in New York last September.

The Chinese head of state considered the issue of Palestine to be crucial to peace in the Middle East, and urged the international community to contribute to the resumption of Israel-Palestinian talks, which have been broken off due to Tel Aviv’s refusal to put a hold on its expansion of illegal settlements."

Thanks for the China link, breezy. OUCH.

This is the amalgamated intel info released in Japan via a major think tank there just about 2 weeks ago.

Nth Korea--->Building up Neutron Bombs, the small sized.

IRAN vs Saudi---> BOTH countries now looking into BUYING UP Nth Korean Nuke Bombs.

China--->wants to retain bigger power over Nth Korea, but freaking out now as it's losing grip over Nth Korean menu they produced by the last Nth Korean nuke test. Trying to wage into the picture of Nth Korea SELLING NUKE BOMBS TO ISRAEL as well.

I think the China link shows the movement of China getting into that power balance picture a bit by bit.

Adding to this picture, after the Nth Korean Nuke Bomb Test was done, South Koreans failed to chat with China for 57 hours, even making Japanese Foreign Minister managed to talk with Sth Korea BEFORE Sth Koreans managed to chat to China.

That was because Chinese side told Sth Koreans to WAIT till they were ready to talk...making Sth Korean position of importance the lowest of the low for Chinese political picture.

Sth Korea--->Have been doing its best to be closer to China. Nth Koreans hated it because it was usually Nth Koreans making bridge between Sth Korea and China. Thus they revolt against the pledge from Sth Korean side, did the menu-presentation nuke bomb test on their own. BUT this time, Nth Korea f_cked up China as well, because THEY DIDN'T TELL CHINA about their menu-presentation at all when they did that Nuke Bomb test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something is stewing in major way in Asia but all is happening kinda hidden manner atm.

McConnell fast-tracks Graham's ISIS war bill

January 21, 2016

Jordain Carney

"The push to authorize the war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is getting a boost in the Senate.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) fast-tracked a wide-ranging authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to the Senate calendar on Thursday.

The procedural move lets the bill skip over the Foreign Relations Committee. Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), who chairs the committee, has suggested that a new AUMF was unlikely to happen and that President Obama currently has the legal authority he needs.

Graham's legislation hasn't been scheduled for floor time, but the South Carolina Republican said Thursday that a debate should happen "as soon as possible."

"Everybody needs to stand up and be counted here," he told reporters. "If the Democrats don't want to give this to Obama, then stand up and tell me why. ... There may be some people running for president as Republicans who don't want this. I would be astonished that anybody seeking to be commander in chief wouldn't want this power."

But the South Carolina Republican, who ended his presidential campaign last month, added that he hasn't spoken to McConnell about trying to get floor time.

The Republican leader has previously expressed concerns about taking up a war bill that would limit Obama, or his successor, from being able to go after terrorist organizations.

"I think an AUMF, an authorization to use military force, that ties the president's hands behind his back is not something I would want to do to a new president, who's going to have to clean up this mess,” he told ABC's "This Week."

Graham's proposal wouldn't place a geographic limit on U.S. military operations against ISIS, with the South Carolina Republican saying it would allow the administration to fight the terror group "wherever, whenever, and however."

It also wouldn't have an expiration date and would not prohibit the president from placing boots on the ground to fight ISIS."

First  remind me who created ISIS?

Second remind me of all the illegal aliens coming over our borders, and how many of them are considered possible terrorists, and how many thousands of them have the alphabets lost track of inside this country?

Third   fast tracked a wide ranging authorization for the use of military force.........like right now, I want this power!  WHY?

Fourth  A debate on this issue  ASAP (especially since the area is being inundated presently by a huge snow storm, which possibly means less obstruction to passage.)

Fifth  By Golly, what CIC wouldn't want this power?  (Exactly why they shouldn't have it) "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Sixth  A War Power Act with NO restrictions.

Seventh NO geographical limits  whenever, wherever, however

Eighth   NO expiration date!   Does that mean boots on the ground in the USA??      Hmmm  Not thinking I like this one bit!  We lost some 56,000 men in Vietnam, yet it was never declared a WAR, It was only a conflict.  Yet they want a WAR POWERS ACT for ISIS???  I smell a RAT!!

Tx Reddwolf for the video, This absolutely fries my grits!!   Wonder how other sovereign nations might feel about this?

@unity  yw for sure something's up

Hamas' new 'tank' rollout draws social media snickers

February 2, 2016

"A “tank” Hamas proudly rolled out at a funeral last week may be more parade float than war machine, and a photo of the contraption prompted Twitter trolls to turn their guns on the terrorist group.

The olive behemoth appeared at a memorial service for seven Hamas members killed when an illegal tunnel they were digging in Gaza collapsed. But in between the mysteriously immobile half-tracks, sharp-eyed social media mavens noticed what looks like a set of telltale tires."

Russian airstrikes pulverize moderate rebels for 36 straight hours

Negotiate this: Russian airstrikes pulverize Syrian 'moderate' rebels for 36 straight hours

Part of channel(s): Syria (current event)

It's a bad time to be a "moderate" in Syria: Even the Washington Post is now reporting that Al-Nusra and other freedom-loving moderate groups are losing the war. As the SAA closes in on Aleppo, Russia is paving the way for a new offensive in northern Homs. And by "paving the way", we really mean "
36 hours
of continuous airstrikes":

For 36 straight hours, the Russian Air Force has pulverized the Islamist rebel defenses in northern Homs, as the Syrian Arab Army's 47th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF) prepare to strike the imperative villages of Harbinifseh and Kisseen that are located along the Orontes River.

According to a senior officer from the Syrian Arab Army, the Russian Air Force's powerful airstrikes over northern Homs are part of the largest aerial campaign launched by the Russian Federation since the advent of their participation in the Syrian Conflict.

Trusted western media outlets are already crying foul, accusing Russia and Assad of derailing peace talks.

The reality is that the west and its Arab client states wanted terrorist groups to have a seat at the negotiating table, which was (rightfully) unacceptable to Moscow.

It looks like Russia has found a more effective way of negotiating with Al-Nusra and Ahrar Al-Sham: Surrender or be turned to dust.

"They'll Return To Their Countries In A Wooden Coffin": Iran, Syria Warn Saudis, Turks Against Ground Troops

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 02/06/2016 15:51 -0500

Two days ago, a Saudi military spokesperson told AP that the kingdom is ready to send ground troops to Syria “to fight ISIS.”

That served as confirmation of what we’ve been saying for months and represented an affirmative answer to the following question that we posed in December: "Did Saudi Arabia just clear the way for an invasion of Syria?"

Four months ago, we previewed the “promised” battle for Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city, which is controlled by a mishmash of rebels and is one of the hardest hit urban centers in Syria. In October, Iran called up Shiite militias from Iraq, rallied thousands of Hezbollah troops, and coordinated with the Russian air force on the way to planning an assault on the city. Victory would mean effectively restoring Assad’s grip on power. So important was the battle, that Iran sent Quds commander Qassem Soleimani to the frontlines to spearhead a kind of pep rally prior to the assault.

Fast forward four months and Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah are on the verge of routing the Syrian opposition. After an arduous push north from Russia’s air field in Latakia, Aleppo is now encircled. Rebels and terrorists alike (assuming there’s a difference) are cut off from their supply lines in Turkey and Moscow’s warplanes are bearing down. Tens of thousands of people are fleeing the city ahead of what promises to be a truly epic battle.

Readers will recall what we said back in October: “... it’s worth noting that using Hezbollah and Shiite militias to fight the ground war decreases the odds of Moscow getting mired in asymmetric warfare with an enemy they don’t fully understand.”

In other words, Hezbollah has no problem engaging in urban warfare - they practically invented it.

The Saudis - not so much. "This will be like a coup de grace for them,” Jafari continued. “Apparently, they see no other way but this, and if this is the case, then their fate is sealed.”

Yes, “their fate will be sealed,” or, as Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem said on Saturday, “I assure you any aggressor will return to their country in a wooden coffin, whether they be Saudis or Turks.”

S. Korean Embassy issues travel advisory over N. Korea's rocket launch

February 9, 2016

"BEIJING, Feb. 9 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean Embassy in Beijing issued a travel advisory Tuesday, warning South Korean citizens to be cautious in visiting China and its border regions with North Korea after the North's long-range rocket launch.

"To cope with the possibility of instability on the Korean Peninsula after North Korea's missile launch, those who are visiting China or living in China should be mindful of their safety," the South Korean Embassy said in a statement."

Images emerge of N. Korea booster debris; U.S. official: satellite 'tumbling in orbit'

February 9, 2016

By Tiffany Ap and K.J. Kwon, CNN

"(CNN)South Korea has released the first images of debris believed to be from a long-range rocket fired by North Korea on Sunday.

The pieces were pulled from the sea southwest of Jeju Island shortly after Pyongyang announced it had successfully launched the earth observation satellite Kwangmyongsong-4 into orbit.

Recovered debris pieces were being analyzed, South Korea said.

Officials say the number of pieces indicate that the rocket's first-stage booster was fitted with a self-destruct device. An official with South Korea's Defense Ministry said that the booster "separated from [the rocket's] main body and exploded into about 270 pieces."

There was no indication that any of the pieces came from the satellite."

Putin’s Aleppo Gamble Pays Off

by Mike Whitney

Last week’s game-changing triumph in northern Syria has moved the Russian-led coalition to within striking distance of a decisive victory in Aleppo.  After breaking a 40 month-long siege on the cities of  Nubl and Zahra, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has encircled the country’s industrial hub and is gradually tightening the noose. Crucial supply-lines to the north have been cut leaving the Sunni extremists and anti-government militias stranded inside a vast, urban cauldron. It’s only a matter of time before these disparate renegades are either killed or forced to surrender. A victory in Aleppo will change the course of the war by restoring government control over the densely-populated western corridor. This is why the Obama administration is frantically searching for ways to either delay or derail the Russian-led juggernaut and avoid the impending collapse of US policy in Syria.

Recent peace talks in Geneva were convened with one goal in mind, to prevent Syrian President Bashar al Assad and loyalist forces from retaking Aleppo. The negotiations failed, however, when Washington’s mercurial allies, the so called “moderate” rebels, refused to participate. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Syrian opposition withdrew “under pressure from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, two of the main backers of the rebels.”  The WSJ’s admission was later confirmed by Secretary of State John Kerry who according to a report in the Middle East Eye “blamed the Syrian opposition for leaving the talks and paving the way for a joint offensive by the Syrian government and Russia on Aleppo.”

“Don’t blame me,” Kerry said, “Blame the opposition. It was the opposition that didn’t want to negotiate and didn’t want a ceasefire, and they walked away.”

None of this will surprise readers who followed the talks closely. The meetings were surrounded by confusion from the very onset. The US delegation headed by Kerry was focused entirely on reaching an agreement that would involve a ceasefire and stop the government-led onslaught.

Limited Nuclear War Within 18 days as Saudis (and Friends) mass 350,000 troops, 20,000 Tanks, 2,450 Planes, 460 Helicopters for Syria Invasion Post by Newsroom - Feb 10, 2016

Russia will have no choice but to use Tactical (Battlefield) Nuclear Weapons to defend Syria once a ground invasion begins within 18 days, as 350,000 troops, 20,000 Tanks, 2,450 military planes  and 460 Helicopters from 25 countries are massing in northern Saudi Arabia.  Syria has warned "any aggressor entering the country will go home in wooden coffins;" Russia has said any country sending ground troops into Syria without permission will be considered "a declaration of war."

Thousands of soldiers from regional countries are set to participate in what is being "called" a military "exercise" media reports say.

Saudi media said some 350,000 forces from Persian Gulf Arab states and a number of other countries will take part in a Saudi-led military maneuver in the area of Hafer al-Batin in northern Saudi Arabia.

In addition to the massive troop build-up, some 2,540 warplanes, 20,000 tanks and 460 helicopters will also participate in the "exercise," dubbed “North Thunder.”

The "exercise" is scheduled to last 18 days, during which the airspace over northern Saudi Arabia will be closed.

Media reports say the "exercise" will be the largest in the history of the region. However, SuperStation95 has done research and there is no known example of this much military power being massed for an "exercise" . . . anywhere . . . ever.  It seems quite obvious to any thinking person that the notion of an "exercise" is fraudulent on its face; this is an invasion force and when it moves, it will mean war.

Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan and Persian Gulf Arab states are among the 25 countries that will also take part in the "exercises."

The maneuver comes at a sensitive time after Saudi Arabia announced readiness to participate in any ground incursion in Syria if the US-led coalition decides to start such an operation.  (Gee, what a coincidence.)

Saudi Arabia is a member of the US-led coalition that has been conducting air raids inside Syria. The airstrikes have been going on without any authorization from the Syrian government or a UN mandate since September 2014.

The Saudi "exercise" is believed as preparation for a possible ground incursion into Syria.

Reacting to the troop deployment, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said Saturday, “Let no one think they can attack Syria or violate its sovereignty because I assure you any aggressor will return to their country in a wooden coffin.”

Pavel Krasheninnikov, a deputy of Russia’s State Duma, has warned Saudi Arabia that any military ground operation in Syria without Damascus’ consent would amount to a declaration of war.

The civil war which has been wrecking Syria for the past several years has been funded and backed by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United States and other countries.  Months ago, when Russia entered the fray to protect their ally, Syria, the Russians began impacting the rebels in a big way.

Within the last week, it became very clear that the rebel/ISIS stronghold in Alleppo, Syria would be surrounded and cut-off by the Russians and the Syrian Arab Army.  Once Alleppo is liberated by the legitimate Syrian government, the entire rebel effort will collapse.

That's why this past weekend, Saudi Arabia publicly floated the "offer" of providing 150,000 ground troops for a "U.S. lead invasion force to enter Syria to fight ISIS."  Trouble is that ISIS is part of the rebel effort and the Saudis, Qataris' Turks and the USA all knew it.  If the Saudis, Qataris, Turks and USA enter with ground troops, it will NOT be to "fight ISIS" but rather will be to protect the rebels!

US Defense Secretary Ash Carter publicly replied that the Saudis had a good idea and he would take it up with our other allies.  But if Alleppo falls, then the final holdout of the terrorists and rebels, a city called Raqqa, will fall as well and at that point, the civil war is over and the bad guys will have lost.

As of tonight, February 10, 2016, Alleppo is now surrounded and cut-off.  The Saudis are getting desperate to help their rebel/terrorist buddies.

The only way the Saudis, Qataris, Turks and USA can possibly _hope_ to protect their rebel pals is to enter in such massive force, they overwhelm the Russians.  This triggers another problem:  Russia has a doctrine of using tactical nuclear weapons FIRST to protect their interests and their territory.

THE SAKER - “Week Eighteen of the Russian Intervention in Syria: a dramatic escalation appears imminent” … Ye gods …. “What is clear is that in any war between Russia and Turkey NATO will have to make a key decision: is the alliance prepared to go to war with a nuclear power like Russia to protect a lunatic like Erdogan?” Interesting times …...

Iraq will be a graveyard for Saudi forces: IPMU

Editor's choiceIraq 13.02.2016

Saudi Arabia and its allies announced that they wanted to conduct a joint military maneuver in the kingdom’s north, close to Iraqi border.

On Saturday, Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Unit’s (IPMU)  spokesman Ahmad Al-Assadi has warned Saudi Arabia against any ground aggression into Iraq.

“We will turn Iraq into a “graveyard” for Saudi forces if they dare attack the country,” Ahmad al-Assadi said.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia and its allies announced that they wanted to conduct a joint military maneuver in the kingdom’s north, close to Iraqi border.

According to several Saudi media, a force of 350,000 soldiers from the Persian Gulf Arab states and a number of other countries, including Egypt, Sudan and Pakistan, would take part in the Saudi-led military exercise named “North Thunder” in the area of Hafer al-Batin which is close to the Iraqi border.

It was also reported that some 2,540 warplanes, 20,000 tanks and 460 helicopters will be participating in the largest drill of the region.

Saudi Arabia to host ‘largest’ military exercises in region, 20 states invited

Published time: 15 Feb, 2016 05:17

Soldiers from 20 countries are to gather in Saudi Arabia for massive military exercises lasting 18 days, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. It comes as Riyadh has openly warned Syrian President Bashar Assad that he will be toppled.

The Saudi state agency made the announcement on Sunday, adding that participating troops will begin arriving in “the next few hours.”

The oil-rich nation described the exercises as “the largest and most important” military drills in the region’s history.

The so-called “Northern Thunder” exercise will take place in the north of the country and will include air, sea and land forces. SPA said that it will show that Riyadh and its allies “stand united in confronting all challenges and preserving peace and stability in the region.”

Among the participants will be Arab and African countries. The US and other Western powers have not been invited.

Russian Diplomat Drops a Bombshell: US Expected ISIS to Seize Damascus by October

February 16, 2016

In an article in a British newspaper Russia’s ambassador to the UK reveals the Russians were told by the Western powers that after the US proclaimed a no-fly zone ISIS would capture Damascus.

by Alexander Mercouris for Russia Insider: http://russia-insider.com/en/politics/russias-ambassador-uk-drops-bombshell-us-expected-isis-seize-damascus-october/ri12860

Alexander Yakovenko, Russia’s ambassador to Britain, dropped something of a bombshell on Monday, though one that has gone completely unnoticed.

In a piece in the print edition of the London Evening Standard defending Russian policy in Syria he made the following extraordinary disclosure:

“Last summer we were told by our Western partners that in October Damascus would fall to IS (ie. the Islamic State – AM).

What they were planning to do next we don’t know.  Probably, they would have ended up painting the extremists white and accepting them as a Sunni state straddling Iraq and Syria”.

The summer – when these conversations between the Western powers and the Russians allegedly took place – was the time when the US was in discussions with Turkey and Jordan about setting up a no-fly zone and safe havens in Syria.

I discussed in this article how “no-fly zone” is today simply a euphemism for a US bombing campaign.

What Yakovenko is therefore in effect saying is that the US was planning in the summer to start a bombing campaign to overthrow the government of Syria in the knowledge that this would result by October in the victory of the Islamic State and its capture of Damascus.

Russia Insider has previously explained that it was to stop the US proclaiming a no-fly zone – i.e. commencing a bombing campaign aimed at overthrowing the Syrian government – that Russia intervened in Syria.

The fact Yakovenko says the US told the Russians this would result in the Islamic State capturing Damascus by October explains why the Russians felt they had to act as they did.

Is Yakovenko however telling the truth?

The first thing to say is that the British and US governments have not denied what he is saying.

That however is not conclusive.  It is not difficult to see why the British and US governments might think that in light of the incendiary nature of what Yakovenko is saying denying it would simply give his comments more publicity if they denied them and that the better approach is silence.

If so, then the fact Yakovenko’s comments have been almost entirely ignored shows this approach has worked.

Is Yakovenko however senior enough to know the details of the discussions that took place in the summer between the Russians and the Western powers as he says?

The answer to that question is almost certainly yes.

Though London is no longer the most important diplomatic posting for a Russian ambassador in Western Europe, it remains an important posting, and any official appointed to be Russia’s ambassador to Britain is by definition a senior official whom Moscow will ensure is kept well-informed.

If there were discussions of the sort Yakovenko says, he would almost certainly have been fully briefed about them.

What Yakovenko says is also consistent with things we know.

In the summer – having just captured Palmyra – the Islamic State was on a roll, making it not implausible that it might reach Damascus by the autumn.

The Syrian army in the meantime had suffered a succession of heavy defeats, and had been forced to withdraw from Idlib province.

In light of all this, in the context of a US bombing campaign, it is not implausible the US was telling the Russians in the summer that the Islamic State would seize Damascus by October.

As for the US’s discussions about setting up a no-fly zone and safe havens, there was nothing secret about those, and they were openly acknowledged.

Why however would the US tell the Russians that they expected the Islamic State to seize Damascus by October?

That is not a difficult question to answer.

No-one in the early summer thought there was any likelihood the Russians would intervene militarily in Syria.  The US probably thought it was not risking anything by telling Moscow its military plans and what their likely consequences would be.

Probably what the US expected was that the threat of a bombing campaign leading to the seizure of Damascus by the Islamic State would terrify Moscow and persuade the Russians to force Assad to stand down, which has been the US objective all along.

In that case the US seriously underestimated the Russians’ resolve and their willingness to act to prevent what the US was threatening from coming to pass.

Overall Yakovenko’s disclosure makes sense, and is therefore probably true.

What it shows is how reckless the US’s Syrian policy had become.

At the very time the US was pretending to fight the Islamic State it was in fact preparing steps that it knew would facilitate its victory.

Even if this was intended as a diplomatic play it was an extraordinary thing to do.

The families of US victims of jihadi terror would surely feel betrayed if they were ever find out about it, whilst it is not difficult to imagine the consternation and recriminations in Washington when the Russians unexpectedly pre-empted the US strategy by intervening in the way they did.

As for the people of Damascus – spared not just US bombing but rule by the Islamic State – and the people of Europe – who would have faced a far bigger refugee flood if what Washington was telling the Russians had come to pass – they both have reason to be grateful to the Russians for making sure that things turned out otherwise.

In the meantime the US assembled its anti-IS coalition of about 70  members, which delivered ineffective airstrikes at IS targets for more than a year before Russia had to intervene at the request of the Syrian government with its air force. Last summer we were told by our Western partners that in October Damascus would fall to IS. What they were planning to do next we don’t know. Probably, they would have ended up painting the extremists white and accepting them as a Sunni state straddling Iraq and Syria.

In these circumstances Russia’s intervention was a critical game-changer, allowing the democratic Syrian opposition to reappropriate the cause of a democratic and secular Syria, which was hijacked by foreign terrorist groups. It was only then that the main actors could come together within the ISSG to engage in a comprehensive effort to find a political solution in Syria and to eradicate IS. The scale of this ambitious dual task has never been underestimated, given the situation on the ground. That’s why the group agreed to compile the lists of bona fide opposition and terrorist groups. This is difficult because of regional scheming. For example, the Syrian Kurds haven’t been invited to Geneva talks because of opposition from Turkey.

Obama in wonderland? US ‘schizophrenic’ on Syria as Kurds, govt forces advance

February 17, 2016

"The US President has claimed that Russian involvement in Syria is a sign of weakness and has pressed for regime change in Damascus, brushing aside ongoing peace talks and ignoring steady gains by the Syrian army and Kurdish forces against terrorists.

“If somebody’s strong, then you don’t have to send in your army to prop up your ally,” President Barack Obama said on Tuesday, taking a break from the ASEAN summit in California to speak to the press about the US Supreme Court and the Syrian crisis.

“They have legitimacy in their country, and they are able to manage it themselves, and then you have good relations with them,” Obama added. “You send in your army when the horse you’re backing isn’t effective.”

Obama was doubling down on a claim made in December last year that Russia was getting bogged down in an“inconclusive and paralyzing civil conflict” in Syria. He dismissed the recent victories of the Syrian Arab Army and the Kurdish fighters north of Aleppo as “initial advances,” and said that three quarters of Syria was still controlled by forces other than the government in Damascus.

“What would be smarter would be for Russia to work with the United States and other parties in the international community to try to broker some sort of political transition,” Obama said.

“The fact that Putin finally had to send his own troops, and his own aircraft … and invest [in] this massive military operation … was not a testament to a great strength; it was a testament to the weakness of Assad’s position,” Obama reiterated, refusing to recognize the anti-terrorist nature of Russian military operation in Syria.

The US president mentioned Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) only once during his “Putin propping up Assad” answer, when he quite ironically said that Russia’s actions “has not distracted us from continuing to focus on ISIL.”

Ankara explosion: At least 28 killed and 61 injured after 'car bomb' hits centre of Turkish capital
Around 28 people have been killed after an apparent car bomb rocked the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu said a further 61 were wounded.
A statement from the armed forces said a bus carrying military personnel was targeted when it stopped at a set of traffic lights outside army barracks.

Or, as we put it moments after the blast: "Expect this to be pinned on either ISIS or the PKK. If it's the latter, Ankara will once again claim that the group is working in concert with the YPG and that will be all the evidence Erdogan needs to march across the border."

While we wait to see whether this will indeed serve as the excuse Erdogan needs to send troops into Syria, we bring you the following images from the site of the deadly attack which killed "at least" 28 people

ISIS Stops Handing Out Snickers Bars, Gatorade As Cash Crunch Deepens

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 02/17/2016

Late last month, we reported that ISIS has cut its fighters’ salaries in half due to “exceptional circumstances the caliphate is facing.”

Those “exceptional circumstances” include Russia’s unrelenting aerial campaign against the group’s illicit oil trafficking business in Syria. The US-led “coalition” likes to take credit for helping to cripple the oil trade, but in reality it was Vladimir Putin (and Zero Hedge) that put the issue in the spotlight in November.

After Putin’s comments at the G20 summit in Antalya and the subsequent aggressive push by the Russian air force to disable the group’s oil production and transport capabilities, the US was effectively forced to join the party. Asked why The Pentagon hadn’t hit ISIS oil trucks during the 14 months the US has supposedly been bombing the group, Washington responded by claiming that America didn’t want to risk collateral damage. In other words, Washington’s excuse for not targeting Islamic State’s $450 million/year oil trade is that the US was worried about a few truck drivers.

In any event, the group’s ability to fund its activities through the sale of stolen oil has been curtailed and it will be months (at least) before that money can be recouped through the capture of Libyan crude. That means less money for fighters and civil servants.

And it also means no more Gatorade.

And no more Snickers bars.

In the photo below, look at the flags on the flag pole outside the ISIS terrorist tents in Latakia, Syria:  The black ISIS Flag is on top; directly above the flag of . . . . . . Turkey.
