Alaska hit by more than 230 small earthquakes since Friday

More than 230 small earthquakes have hit parts of Alaska since Friday, when a 7.0-magnitude quake knocked out power, ripped open roads and splintered buildings near Anchorage, the US Geological Survey said.

Still, local officials said life was returning to normal even as four to eight inches of snow were expected on Sunday.
"This is the second largest earthquake we've had since 1964, which was a very significant earthquake," Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz told reporters Saturday, referring a historic magnitude-9.2 quake that was the most powerful recorded temblor in US history.

7.5 magnitude earthquake strikes near Ecuador-Peru border, USGS says

A powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck near the border of Ecuador and Peru on Friday sending shockwaves as far as the Ecuadorean capital of Quito and coastal city Guayaquil.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage relating to the quake.

“Preliminary reports of the quakes near Macas don’t show major damage,” Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno tweeted, adding that the rattlers were felt “all over the country.”

Warning Is Out But....: Is It Happening Or Not?

California's Eerie 'Earthquake Pause' Is Unprecedented

The Current Unlikely Earthquake Hiatus at California’s Transform Boundary Paleoseismic Sites

Rex pointed out about the same thing as I was thinking about why it's been so quiet lately.
And basically thought the alien interventions might had been made to make it all ok for some duration.
California is very much gripped by a very nasty faction and yeah of course if it's better to keep California as is for their advantage, I could easily imagine they would intervene and cause crap to some other place instead, if necessary. But we dunno if that was a necessity.....🙄

Papua New Guinea earthquake: 7.2 magnitude quake hits country

Zamira Rahim                         May 6, 2019

The 7.2-magnitude earthquake was reported by USGS

"A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has struck near Papua New Guinea, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has said.

The quake struck 33km north west of the town of Bulolo in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The epicentre of the strong quake was 127 km (79 miles) below the surface, the USGS said, in a region at the eastern edge of the mountainous country.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

There are currently no tsunami warnings in the region, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center."

A tectonic plate may have peeled apart—and that could shrink the Atlantic Ocean

May 6, 2019        Maya Wei-Haas

"Something strange is happening off the coast of Portugal, and scientists have now proposed a groundbreaking explanation.

snip  image

"For years, João Duarte has puzzled over a seemingly boring underwater expanse off the coast of Portugal. In 1969, this site spawned a massive earthquake that rattled the shore and sparked a tsunami. But you would never know why just from looking at the broad, featureless surface of the seabed. Duarte, a marine geologist from the Instituto Dom Luiz at the University of Lisbon, wanted to find out what was going on.

Now, 50 years after the event, he may finally have an answer: The bottom of the tectonic plate off Portugal's coast seems to be peeling away from its top. This action may be providing the necessary spark for one plate to start grinding beneath another in what's known as a subduction zone, according to computer simulations Duarte presented in April at the European Geosciences Union meeting.

If confirmed, the new work would be the first time an oceanic plate has been caught in the act of peeling—and it may mark one of the earliest stages of the Atlantic Ocean shrinking, sending Europe inching toward Canada as predicted by some models of tectonic activity. (Find out what scientists think will happen when Earth's tectonic plates grind to a halt.)  > https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2018/08/news-happens-plate-tectonics-end-earth-mountains-volcanoes-geology/

“It’s certainly an interesting story,” says the University of Oslo's Fabio Crameri, who was not part of the research team but who attended the EGU lecture. Duarte presented some strong arguments, he says, but he cautions that the model needs further testing—not an easy feat when your data comes from a natural process that works at the speed at which fingernails grow."

Powerful 7.5 Earthquake Hits in Papua New Guinea

May 14, 2019         Jan Wesner Childs

snip   video

"A magnitude 7.5 earthquake has struck Papua New Guinea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate indications of injuries or damage. Residents in the area reported that the quake shook homes, rattled furniture, knocked items off shelves and tables and cut off power, according to news network EMTV.

A tsunami alert was issued for Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands but was later cancelled.

The epicenter of the quake was about 28 miles northeast of Kokopo, in New Britain province. The city is on a smaller island northeast of the main island and about 495 miles from the the capital of Port Moresby.

Papua New Guinea sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," named for its active volcanoes and earthquakes. About 90 percent of Earth's quakes happen along this 25,000-mile horseshoe that loops from South America to Europe and back down to the coast off Australia.

A magnitude 7. 2 quake struck the country's main island on May 7, but no injuries or damage were reported.

In the past century, 36 earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or larger have been reported within 150 miles of the epicenter of today's quake. Three of those were magnitude 8.0 or larger, including one in November 2000 that triggered landslides and at least one death, and left thousands homeless.

Last year, a magnitude 7.5 quake in another part of Papua New Guinea killed at least 145 people."

Things are not settled.

Looked at these early this morning and they were almost entirely BLACK. They're not anything like they were about 30% or less BLACK/Active.

Mercury factor.

Also talk on linked GLP thread above suggesting there were no foreshocks or real aftershock (I can not verify), thus inferring this was a foreshock quake, so not the big one! Yikes if true.

This GLP thread suggests 3 quakes, one being the Peru quake - https://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message4049333/pg1

Quake swarm unleashes 400 tiny temblors on Southern California. What does it mean?

Don Sweeney                       June 4, 2019

 snip     video simulation

"More than 430 tiny temblors have rattled Southern California in the past 10 days or so, some just strong enough to be felt by residents, LAist reports.

But the swarm of earthquakes hitting the Inland Empire, stretching from eastern Los Angeles to the Mojave Desert, probably doesn’t indicate a major quake’s on the way, KTLA reported.

“This is just a place where the earth sputters along instead of letting go all at once,” seismologist Lucy Jones wrote on Twitter.

The two largest quakes, registering 3.4 and 3.2 magnitude, took place Sunday afternoon, KABC reported. Other earthquakes have reached as low as 0.8 magnitude."

snip    info video

But Jones wrote on Twitter that even some of the smaller quakes, normally undetectable, may have been felt by residents since most were relatively shallow.

“When the quake is only 1 mile down, instead of 5 miles or more, you are that much closer to the event,” Jones wrote.

While quake swarms sometimes suggest a larger quake may be imminent, seismologist Robert Graves with the U.S. Geological Survey says that’s “highly unlikely” this time, KTLA reported."

Thank you breezy, there's been lots weird EQ going on.

Japanese quake yielded no death but 20+ injured including breaking bones from falling from the staircase as the person got hit by EQ on that moment....but no deaths! No worries about tsunamis, and few places got flattened, but this is THE news------no nuke plants are threatened there.
