SA hit by a 6.1-strong earthquake considered the biggest in Australia in 15 years

March 24, 2012

A MAGNITUDE 6.1 earthquake, the biggest in the country for 15 years, rattled Far North South Australia yesterday.

The earthquake's epicentre was recorded at shallow depth near Ernabella, 415km north west of Coober Pedy and about 320km south west of Alice Springs, just before 8pm yesterday.

Geoscience Australia reported the quake could have been felt by people up to 500km away and damage experienced within a 40km radius of the epicentre.

Geoscience Australia seismologist David Jepsen said the quake was the biggest in Australia in 15 years.

''There are a number of Aboriginal communities near the epicentre and they would have felt the earthquake strongly,'' he said.

''It is possible there could be some minor damage up there. One of these in a major city would be a different story.

Just wanted to tell you breezy.

Earth has been shaking in Norway. No big quakes. between 3 and 4 the most.

I am not a specialist but I think earthquakes are not so common in Norway, but they happen occasionally.

I will see if I find some written news about it and post the link.

Seismic activity triples at Chile’s Ilaima volcano – yellow alert

March 26, 2012  update...

–" Santiago de Chile – Chilean authorities maintain state of alert in the Araucania region, due to increased seismic activity at Llaima volcano, one of the most active in the country and in South America. The regional governor, Andres Molina, confirmed that a yellow alert continues to be in effect for the communities of Melipeuco, Cunco, Vilcún, Curacautín and Lonquimay, because there are clear signs of “out-gassing in the inner perimeter” of the Llaima. Molina said that on Monday will meet the emergency committee to assess the status of the volcano, then it is found that in recent weeks the number quakes have tripled within the massif, which is located in the Andes, about 600 kilometers south of this capital. In geology, a massif is a section of a planet’s crust that is demarcated by faults or flexures."

The quake struck a little after 10:45 a.m., centered just west of Honomu in East Hawaii, at a depth of 27 miles.

"There are no reports of major damage or injuries.

Scientists say the earthquake was too small to generate a tsunami and the weight of the Big Island settling is the likely cause.

Geologists at the Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory say there have been no aftershocks so far, and there's been no change in the ongoing eruption at Kilauea Volcano."

Japan issues gloomier forecast for future tsunami threats

"Report says offshore quake could set off wave measuring more than 100 feet high"

TOKYO —" Much of Japan's Pacific coast could be inundated by a tsunami more than 112 feet (34 meters) high if a powerful earthquake hits offshore, according to revised estimates by a government panel.

The panel of experts says any tsunami unleashed by a magnitude-9.0 earthquake in the Nankai trough, which runs east of Japan's main island of Honshu to the southern island of Kyushu, could top 34 meters at its highest.

An earlier forecast in 2003 put the potential maximum height of such a tsunami at less than 66 feet (20 meters)."

City shakes and booms as quake, thunder strike

"A 1.2-magnitude earthquake hit Shanghai Monday night just as a brief thunderstorm struck, causing no casualties but raising public concern online because of the coincidental timing.

It also happened to occur a day after the local seismological bureau had dismissed any possibility that Shanghai might suffer serious damages should another major tsunami be unleashed by a powerful earthquake off Japan.

A prediction by a Japanese government-commissioned panel of another big Japan earthquake had made headlines in local media, with locals fearing the predicted 34-meter-high tsunami waves, caused by a potential 9.0-magnitude earthquake near the Japanese coast, would inundate Shanghai.

Just as locals breathed a sigh of relief reading a no-worry clarification from the seismological authority, many were surprised Monday night to feel several seconds of strong building shaking from the local earthquake.

The city's seismological bureau said the 1.2-magnitude quake took place at 11:27pm, with the epicenter in Minhang District at a depth of just 10 kilometers.

Given its shallow depth, the slight-magnitude quake was still obvious enough to be felt by many locals, seismological officials said."

Tsunami watch lifted after two big earthquakes

April 11, 2012

"Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- A massive earthquake struck off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a tsunami watch for the Indian Ocean, which was later canceled.

The quake struck about 434 kilometers (270 miles) southwest of Banda Aceh, the capital of Indonesia's Aceh province, and had a magnitude of 8.6, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It took place at a depth of 23 kilometers (14 miles).

A second large quake, with a magnitude of 8.2, occurred off the west coast of Sumatra about two hours later, the USGS said.

Gary Gibson from the Seismology Research Center in Melbourne, Australia, said the location of the second quake reduced the possibility of a tsunami."

"In 2004, a 9.1-magnitude underwater earthquake off the coast of Sumatra triggered a tsunami that killed more than 200,000 people in 14 countries. The majority of the deaths were in Indonesia, with Aceh bearing the brunt.

That quake took place 250 kilometers (155 miles) south-southeast of Banda Aceh at a depth of 30 kilometers (19 miles).

The tsunami, which washed away entire communities, caused nearly $10 billion in damage and more casualties than any other tsunami in history, according to the United Nations.

Since then, officials have worked to improve warning systems and have carried out drills in the region.

Indonesia is on the so-called Ring of Fire, an arc of fault lines circling the Pacific Basin that is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

The earthquake Wednesday comes just over year after a magnitude-9 quake off the northeast coast of Japan caused a devastating tsunami. The death toll from that disaster stands at about 15,850."

Arizona earthquake numbers saw a large increase in 2011

"According to the Arizona Geological Survey, 131 earthquakes were detected in 2011 compared with 53 in 2010. That was twice as many as in 2009 and about a third more than in 2008. Most of the earthquakes were in the northwestern part of the state. The Yuma area was also shaken by earthquakes associated with the Gulf of California Rift Zone."

"Many of these earthquakes (magnitude ca. 1.6) occurred near Lake Mead. These are attributed to mining and quarrying, and also to crustal adjustments to water going into and out of the lake. The strongest earthquakes (magnitude ca. 3.6) occurred near Clarkdale in the central part of the state. The Survey says that these events are consistent with past behavior: “a propensity for deeper seismicity to occur in two pockets, the northwestern Utah-Arizona border and well within the Colorado Plateau in the northeast corner of the state” and “the highest concentration of energy release correlates well with the pattern of established Quaternary faulting, indicating that this portion of the crust continues to be an active area of strain release and of particular interest for hazard studies in Arizona.” The strain is due to on-going crustal extension."

Earthquakes shake Gulf of California

April 12, 2012

"(CNN) -- A pair of strong earthquakes rocked Mexico's Gulf of California only minutes apart early Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quakes -- magnitude 6.9 and 6.2 -- were centered about 85 miles northeast of Guerrero Negro in the Mexican state of Baja California, or 325 miles south-southwest of Phoenix in the United States. Both epicenters were shallow, a little more than six miles underground.

No tsunami warnings were issued and there were no immediate reports of damage, but people as far north as Tucson, Arizona, reported feeling them.

The temblors were recorded at 12:16 a.m. and 12:06 a.m. local time (3:16 a.m. and 3;06 a.m. ET)."

The April 11, 2012 Event: cluster of large earthquakes rattle the globe from Indonesia to Mexico

width=500 height=310 globe-4.png?w=640 [/img]theextinctionprotocol

WORLD – A strong earthquake hit Mexico on Wednesday, shaking buildings and sending people running out of offices onto the streets of the capital Mexico City. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.5 -magnitude quake was centered on Mexico’s Pacific coast near Michoacan and struck fairly deep under the earth at 65 km or 40 miles.

Prior to the Mexico earthquake, a powerful and shallow 5.9 struck near the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate off the coast of Oregon- indicating tectonic plates worldwide are being rattled by planetary seismic tension. Prior to Oregon earthquake, two massive 8.0+ magnitude earthquakes (8.6 and 8.2) struck the ocean floor off the north coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.

As I warned in my book The Extinction Protocol, the power unleashed in these seismic events is growing. This is testament to the dangers and seriousness of the earth-changes facing us and how these events are unleashing more unbridled force with each successive eruption.

The Indian Ocean strike-slip fault earthquakes are very unusual. As a matter of fact, I’ve never heard of a strike-slip lateral earthquake of this great a magnitude; especially under water. Preliminary assessment of the Indonesian quakes by U.S. geologists suggests one plate lurched past each other as much as 70 feet.

San Andreas is a strike-slip, lateral- can we even imagine two sections of ground moving 70 feet near San Francisco? Had the force of the Sumatra quakes been unleashed upon San Andreas, the city would have been completely destroyed. Ironically, the largest surface displacement ever recorded in a lateral strike-slip fault was 21 feet and that was in the 1906 7.9 San Andreas earthquake.

Just so we understand the significance of what transpired today; the Japanese March 11, 2011 earthquake move the ocean floor 79 feet sideways and 10 ft upwards, but today’s earthquakes happened in double 8.0+ magnitude sequence and moved the earth nearly as far.

Worst, the seismic tension from the event ricocheted around the world and contributed to other earthquakes. On April 12, additional earthquakes hit the Gulf of California – a 6.2 and 6.9 magnitude earthquakes. The seismic tension appears to be far from over and now appears to be agitating the Pacific Plate subduction zones near Japan. –The Extinction Protocol    <<<<<<<<Does this mean the next Japanese 9 is on the way?

Minor earthquake in sea off Italy's Sicily

April 13, 2012

"A 4.3 MAGNITUDE earthquake has struck in the sea off Italy's Sicily, sending residents into the streets but with no immediate reports of victims or injuries, officials said.

The epicentre of the quake that struck this morning (4.20 AEST) was about 30km off the coast of Sicily, north of the capital Palermo, and about 15km under sea level, according to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).

Crowds of people rushed onto the streets as the tremors from the quake were felt in Palermo and other towns of the island off Italy's southern tip known for seismologic activity.

Schools and offices closed immediately after the quake.

On January 27, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck northern Italy, with tremors felt in Genoa, Turin, Bologna, Milan and as far away as the city of Strasbourg and the island of Corsica. It did not cause victims and only slight damage"

Seems the earth has awaken again,is it the sun,the moon, the 188 day cycle ?

Just wondering if anyone has made a connection.

The last 188 day cycle fell around 20~24 March 2012, so it seems out of that cycle...

Nonetheless Japanese geologists are stating that the Earth is now in quake-active period and lots more of big quakes are expected to continue to happen.

When a big one line M9.0 quake happened in Japan occurs, apparently the aftershocks are to continue to rumble for 1000 years and more, effect bouncing all around the Earth. :(

Nowhere to hide, nowhere to reduce the energy at ease.

Which means I think we gotta enjoy what we have and appreciate while we can, learn more to be kind to others, grow up as the humanity altogether...

No point in wars and divisions among different countries.

We should unite under this pressure.

(We shouldn't be waiting till the aliens come and do something for us! :P)

Thanks ever so much, breezy, for always posting the connected info for us all!! :-*

Re: Japan, I'm not an Astrologer, but apparently according to the natal chart of Japan shows that MAY 2012 may bring mega awful situation.

God knows WTH it may be but it's easy for us to imagine that's to do with another/other big quake(s) to happen, and subsequently, the destruction of even more nuke plants there.

With the Eastern Japan experience the biggest quake with the 3 plates rumbling at the same time (which has been expected...not if but WHEN...and the answer has given that ANY TIME FROM NOW TO WITHIN 10 YRS at 70% PLAUSIBILITY), that 2/3 of the country may literally sink under the sea.

And with that, all the rest of Earth would experience further nuclear disaster.

Not a threat any more, but the disaster.... :(

Stu has been showing us on the Moon thread http://thechaniproject.com/forum/index.php/topic,3296.msg24966.html#msg24966 and other threads about our planetary position in May 2012, and the pressure we cop from the Grand Trine and Grand Cross seem to be bringing a critical change in the shape of the Earth, which means we may be squashed down to be elongated and making easier to have quakes, like you are pressuring a hard boiled egg in between your fingers.

And more to connect the dots, Jessica has put this article in the thread http://thechaniproject.com/forum/index.php/topic,3119.msg26380.html#msg26380:

Moon Axis Poles Shift on 4/8/12, Nibiru to arrive May 2012?

Posted by Vatic Master

Vatic Note: This is actually a very good presentation/write up. Check out the photos and graphs, which are very detailed and readable. He makes very good points and very cogent arguments for his case that Nibiru is coming in May. I don't know anymore than anyone else on this subject, but putting 2 and 2 together, I keep getting 4.

Just ask yourselves..... why did 20,000 bankers world wide resign within 10 days to two weeks of each other? That is way too many to be a purging or prosecution of these bankers... further, here in Colorado the weather is getting weirder and weirder. Winds that we NEVER get up here in the mountains are horrific and daily. The dumping of chemtrails to hide "something" is apparent since these are not the traditional normal trails we are used to seeing. Very little to no dandelions, and the iris's and daffodils are practically none existant and those that managed to make it are pathetic and wilted, and small. Birds are also acting very funny. Not their normal mating behavior and they are not eating. Something is amiss. Add to that, this below serves to make us ask "Why and what is making the moon change its position?" Lots of questions and no answers, that requires us to put up everything we can find to begin to figure it out. We need to do that in order to properly prepare for what ever is planned.

Remember, our weather and other geological anomalies could also be the result of man made HAARP and it could be both Nibiru and man made to do the Rahm "take advantage of a good crisis" to complete their depopulation. We are not bringing this up to scare anyone, rather to get righteously mad and use that energy to prepare. Read this and decide for yourself, that is all we can do at this point, since there is no one in government or industry, that we can trust anymore. We are who is going to save us. We need to get used to that idea.

Breezy, The USGS site Friday stated we have had 7107 earthquakes to date in 2012. I recall them leading with an explanation in 2011 on then increases as more/better seismic sensors. Funny, most of media is quiet on this now, barely getting a sound byte on the evening news. Expert warns of another quake in Andaman region

"BANGKOK: A fierce earthquake from the Nicobar Islands could strike over Songkran, sending a tsunami crashing into the Andaman Coast, an expert warned yesterday after finding that the 8.6magnitude Sumatran tremor three days ago was exceptionally deep.

"Whenever there is a quake rooted in the [Earth's] mantle, a following quake will be likely in the next few days," said Professor Thanawat Jaruphongsakul, a senior seismologist at Chulalongkorn University.
