Experts: New Computers Can Delete Thoughts Without Your Knowledge

"Neurotech scientists are rapidly mapping the brain and discovering new ways of controlling your thoughts and memories. Remember, Technocrats push the envelope because they can, without caring one whit about the collateral damage to humanity. ⁃ TN Editor

“Thou canst not touch the freedom of my mind,” wrote the playwright John Milton in 1634.

But, nearly 400 years later, technological advances in machines that can read our thoughts mean the privacy of our brain is under threat.

Now two biomedical ethicists are calling for the creation of new human rights laws to ensure people are protected, including “the right to cognitive liberty” and “the right to mental integrity”.

Scientists have already developed devices capable of telling whether people are politically right-wing or left-wing. In one experiment, researchers were able to read people’s minds to tell with 70 per cent accuracy whether they planned to add or subtract two numbers.

Facebook also recently revealed it had been secretly working on technology to read people’s minds so they could type by just thinking.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/facebook-mind-reading-brain-technology-building-8-regina-dugan-pentagon-a7692481.html

And medical researchers have managed to connect part of a paralysed man’s brain to a computer to allow him to stimulate muscles in his arm so he could move it and feed himself.

The ethicists, writing in a paper in the journal Life Sciences, Society and Policy, stressed the “unprecedented opportunities” that would result from the “ubiquitous distribution of cheaper, scalable and easy-to-use neuro-applications” that would make neurotechnology “intricately embedded in our everyday life”.

https://lsspjournal.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s40504-017-0050-1

However, such devices are open to abuse on a frightening degree, as the academics made clear.

They warned that “malicious brain-hacking” and “hazardous uses of medical neurotechnology” could require a redefinition of the idea of mental integrity.

“We suggest that in response to emerging neurotechnology possibilities, the right to mental integrity should not exclusively guarantee protection from mental illness or traumatic injury but also from unauthorised intrusions into a person’s mental wellbeing performed through the use of neurotechnology, especially if such intrusions result in physical or mental harm to the neurotechnology user,” the ethicists wrote.

“The right to mental privacy is a neuro-specific privacy right which protects private or sensitive information in a person’s mind from unauthorised collection, storage, use, or even deletion in digital form or otherwise.”

And they warned that the techniques were so sophisticated that people’s minds might be being read or interfered with without their knowledge.

“Illicit intrusions into a person’s mental privacy may not necessarily involve coercion, as they could be performed under the threshold of a persons’ conscious experience,” they wrote in the paper."

Cryogenically frozen brains will be 'woken up' and transplanted in donor bodies within three years, claims surgeon

Sarah Knapton      April 27, 2017

"People who have had their brains cryogenically frozen could be 'woken up' within three years, a pioneering Italian surgeon has claimed.

Professor Sergio Canavero, Director of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group, is aiming to carry out the first human head transplant within 10 months and then wants to begin trials on brain transplants.

If the procedures are successful, he believes that frozen brains could be thawed and inserted into a donor body.

Hundreds of people who are dying or paralysed have had their bodies or brains cryogenically preserved in the hope that medical science will be able to bring them back to life and cure their conditions.

Although many experts are sceptical that huge organs like the brain can be thawed without damage, Prof Canavero said he believes the first frozen head could soon be resurrected.

Speaking to the German magazine Ooom, he said he planned to awaken patients frozen by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation which is based in Arizona.

"We will try to bring the first of the company's patients back to life, not in 100 years. As soon as the first human head transplant has taken place, i.e. no later than 2018, we will be able to attempt to reawaken the first frozen head," said Prof Canavero.

"We are currently planning the world's first brain transplant, and I consider it realistic that we will be ready in three years at the latest."

In the video I posted above, Anthony Patch describes a scenario much like one I dreamed about as a young child.  Long before any of us were aware of computers, or that was the name they'd be given and long before my family even had a black and white TV, I dreamed that all of mankind was going to be put into a huge machine somehow, and that this machine would be in Denver, Colorado.  (Considering the Denver Airport and all the info we've now heard about it, I find Denver being in my dream all those years ago, interesting.)  I never forgot that dream, even if I did not understand it, and now here is all this information coming out about CERN, D Wave systems, mapping our brains, our quantum brains and DNA, synthetic DNA, synthetic wombs, AI, robots, 5 G, etc.  My dream coming true, and it seems totally impossible to me, but of course it's not, it is happening.  Don't forget the black goo computers either, in Rome, Germany, US, and London.  We are all aware enough to realize that technology is far more advanced than they tell us, and if we are starting to put it all together, then how far have "they" actually gotten in their endeavor to render we humans, totally unnecessary or useless?  I'm going to post links to articles you may find interesting, regarding all of this.  I almost don't know where/how to start, but basically it was why I started this thread.

"Perhaps your real life is so rich you don't have time for another.

Even so, the US Department of Defense (DOD) may already be creating a copy of you in an alternate reality to see how long you can go without food or water, or how you will respond to televised propaganda.

The DOD is developing a parallel to Planet Earth, with billions of individual "nodes" to reflect every man, woman, and child this side of the dividing line between reality and AR.

Called the Sentient World Simulation (SWS), it will be a "synthetic mirror of the real world with automated continuous calibration with respect to current real-world information", according to a concept paper for the project."

So then synthetic DNA, synthetic/artificial wombs, would you still be a human if they created a you from synthetic copy of your DNA, and if you were born/birthed from an artificial womb, or would you be a form of AI, or simply a synthetic life form, in an augmented reality that they control? Once they have all our DNA recorded, they don't need us.  Back to my dream of us all being put in a machine. Think  of all the advertisements these days encouraging people to find out their real heritage, and that is being done by sending for a kit that you send in and get your DNA tested. Wonder if they are keeping track of all those individuals they test, by entering the results into a big computer somewhere? Not only that, think of all the people who have a blood test every day. I wonder how many of them had their DNA tested, w/o their knowledge, and also those results were kept track of?  I know mine was tested w/o me knowing, until after it had been done.

Researchers Grow Brain Cells on a Chip

From May 18, 2017    Emily Waltz

"Every human thought starts with a signal traveling from one neuron to another in the brain. Yet we know relatively little about how these connections form. In an effort to watch that process unfold, Australian researchers engineered a nanowire scaffold on a semiconductor chip that enables brain cells to grow and form circuits. The scientists described their device recently in the journal Nano Letters.

The neural scaffold falls far short of any brain-on-a-chip that futurists might imagine. But it does provide a way for scientists to guide the growth of neurons and study their connectivity, says Vini Gautam, a biomaterials engineer at Australian National University who led the study.

That has been a challenge for scientists trying to recreate neural circuitry in the lab. Neurons in the brain connect and communicate in a highly ordered way. But in the lab, the cells tend to reconstruct randomly and suffer from experimental limitations that render the circuitry nothing like the real thing in the brain."

‘Brains linked to computers will kill our inner freedom’ - Zizek to RT on biohacking & identity loss

Aug, 15, 2017

"Humans are losing their freedoms, self-identity and free will, Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek has told RT, noting that a recent biohacking experiment by a team from the University of Washington is just another sign of the dawn of a post human era.

A team of scientists from the University of Washington successfully managed to hack into a computer using custom synthesized strands of DNA.

In their study, which is to be presented at 2017 USENIX Security Symposium Thursday, researchers said that it is potentially possible for a molecular code to take over machinery by exploiting weaknesses of gene sequencing software.

“We designed and created a synthetic DNA strand that contained malicious computer code encoded in the bases of the DNA strand,” researchers from the Paul G Allen school of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington said ahead of their presentation.

“When this physical strand was sequenced and processed by the vulnerable program it gave remote control of the computer doing the processing. That is, we were able to remotely exploit and gain full control over a computer using adversarial synthetic DNA.”

While the researchers led by Tadayoshi Kohno and Luis Ceze admit that at this point, the threat is only theoretical, Zizek noted the sinister side of this experiment.

The fact that is what possible to break into, to hack a computer through a DNA, means that our identity, determined by DNA is nothing more than just another computer formula,” Zizek said.

“Our life, human life, our identity is reduced to a series of formulas. So we are effectively entering some kind of post human universe where everything, our inner most identity can be reduced to a formula.

“I would not be afraid of this [particular experiment], that’s not necessarily a bad thing,” Zizek said, emphasizing that there are a lot of much more disturbing scientific achievements

“What I'm afraid of is a possibility of a direct contact-link between our brain, what we are thinking, and a computer network, because there we lose our autonomy.”

He warned that soon computers will be able to control the human mind, misleading the individual to believe they are still in control of their thoughts and reality. Under this arrangement, Zizek argues, humans will lose their autonomy and will become indistinguishable from the machines.

“What is much more dangerous is... if our brains will be directly linked to computers so we will lose our inner freedom. Even in the worst of Nazism… those in power could not control what you are thinking. You can have your inner thoughts... Now with a direct link between our brain and the digital network, we lose our inner freedom,” the philosopher said."
