You got to stand back and look at the whole - take all of these together - entropy is accelerating in our system....this can be a negative or from another perspective, a good thing

Just a thought from what Arc was writing before re:magnetised rails.

A newer bullet trains are using magnetised rails and wheels so the wheels actually don't touch on the rail when it's running fast. There's a mass of air in between the wheels and rails, if my memory is correct.

If for some reason the rails for usual trails were magnetised and the wheels, too, while they are approaching towards "far more magnetised areas"/particular areas of rails, normal wheels of trains also got magnetised and thus even for very thin air occurring in between the wheels AND the rails, could that help the train ACCELERATED BEFORE the derailment?

The issue is the rails and wheels must be magnetised with the same pole ends to repel one another away to get the idea work, though.

Woops, gotta be off to work now!

If anyone can explain, pleeeeeese help us....I'm puzzled...

sounds kinda like how the monorail in Seattle runs.  on a cushion and no wheels or cars really touch the rail, but it doesn't really have wheels either, just the rail that the train rides on.  Hmmm.  Then does the bullet train travel on a special track that other trains don't travel on ?  I will have to do some checking into this, but by golly if anyone else has any clues or info I'd sure be interested too.

Just wanted to put out a few interesting details about Wednesday’s crash of a UPS cargo plane (Airbus A300) near Alabama airport at around 5am on Wednesday 14th August 2013 as it approached Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport

From this Chicago Tribune story:

There was a big explosion that lit up the sky. It jarred the earth.

[...]

No distress calls were made to the airport tower, according to April Odom, a spokeswoman for Bell.

[...]

“It was quite a large fire and there were two to three explosions after the plane caught fire, after the crash itself,” Bell said.

[...]

Pedro Torres, who lives about two blocks from the crash site, saw “a big flash” from the window of his home when the plane went down.

Train locomotive in Ottawa bus crash linked to fatal 2011 crash

By Matthew Coutts | Daily Brew – 9-20-13

2013-09-18T203516Z_2106689170_GM1E99J0CG

Officials work at the scene of an accident involving a bus and a train in Ottawa September 18, 2013.

As the Transportation Safety Board of Canada continues to investigate the fatal crash involving a train and city bus in Ottawa earlier this week, a somber coincidence has linked the train to another fatal collision two years ago.

The locomotive pulling the passenger train toward Toronto on Wednesday appears to be the same locomotive that collided with a truck driven by 22-year-old John Jobson near Glencoe, Ont., on July 29, 2011.

Images obtained as part of separate Transportation Safety Board investigations appear to be of the same vehicle. In each case, the locomotive is numbered 915, with the code EPA-42A included on its side. Other traits appear similar, including light placement and design. A Via Rail spokesperson confirmed the same locomotive was present in both collisions.

A website called Canadian Railway Observations, which tracks Via Rail's fleet, says locomotive No. 915 was previously damaged in a collision and repainted Renaissance green.

Three freight trains collide in Texas AP  September 26, 2013, 5:07 am

traincrash130926aap400_1946h9t-1946ha1.j

Three freight trains have collided in Texas, derailing up to 30 cars and leaving four workers hurt, including two with critical injuries.

The Department of Public Safety says the accident happened before dawn on Wednesday, just east of Amarillo.

Senior Trooper Chris Ray says an eastbound train rear-ended a stopped train, and that a westbound train then collided with the two-train wreck.

BNSF Railway spokesman Joe Faust says two crewmembers on the first train have non-life threatening injuries and that two from the second train are critically hurt.

Faust says the trains were hauling flatbed cars carrying truck trailers and that no hazardous materials spilled.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the accident.

Fracking Oil: Like Normal Oil, But Just A Bit More Highly Explosive?

Officials say chemicals from the fracking process may have led to last month's deadly train explosion that vaporized dozens of Québecois.

When a train carrying 72 cars of North Dakota oil derailed in Quebec July 6, killing 47 people and destroying a small community, the attention focussed on what went wrong on the rails. Yet a new railway-sponsored investigation is indicating the concern should have been directed at the substances found inside the oil tankers.

Train derails west of Edmonton

November 3, 2013

Derailment about 90 km from crash in Gainford last month, CN says

"Thirteen train cars went off the tracks west of Edmonton early Sunday morning.

Patrick Waldron, a spokesperson for CN Rail, said the train derailed around 1 a.m. MT Sunday near Peers in Yellowhead County, about 180 kilometres west of Edmonton.

Waldron said the 137-car train was en route from Prince George to Edmonton when it derailed.

One of the derailed cars is a dangerous goods tanker carrying sulphur dioxide. The other 12 cars are loaded with lumber.

The dangerous goods car is upright and not leaking, said Waldron, who added there are no environmental concerns or threats to the public at this time.

Fire officials from Yellowhead County have been in touch with CN and have assessed the crash site, but firefighters were not needed."

November 29, 2013

"(Reuters) - A commuter ferry crossing the Hudson River from Manhattan with two dozen passengers aboard crashed into a pier in New Jersey, on Friday, injuring seven people aboard, four of whom were taken to a hospital, but none was badly hurt, officials said.

The cause of the late-afternoon mishap at the ferry landing along the Jersey City waterfront was under investigation, a New York Police Department spokesman said.

The New York Waterway ferry was arriving in Jersey City after crossing the river from lower Manhattan, near the World Financial Center, when the vessel made a "hard landing" at J. Owen Grundy Park Pier, waterway spokesman Pat Smith said.

The ferry was carrying 24 passengers and three crew members at the time, according to Smith."

Officials: 4 Dead After Metro-North Train Derails In The Bronx

December 1, 2013

"NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Four people were killed and 63 injured when a Metro-North commuter train derailed Sunday morning in the Bronx, officials said.

All of the train’s seven cars came off the curved track about 100 feet north of the Spuyten Duyvil station around 7:20 a.m., MTA officials said. One car came to rest feet from the Harlem River.

Three of the dead were found outside the train, and one was found inside, authorities said. Their families haven’t yet been notified.

Eleven people are believed to be in critical condition, authorities said. The train operator was among the dozens injured, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

NewYork Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center spokesman Brian Dotson said the medical facility had received 17 patients in total – 14 at the main hospital in Washington Heights and three more at the Allen Pavilion location in the Bronx.

Four of the patients at Columbia Presbyterian were in critical condition, Dotson told CBS 2.

UPDATE on Bronx situation

December 6, 2013

After Fatal Crash, Metro-North Is Ordered to Make Safety Changes

By MATT FLEGENHEIMER

"Five days after a fatal Metro-North Railroad derailment in the Bronx, the Federal Railroad Administration issued an emergency order on Friday requiring the agency to have two people in place to operate trains where major speed limits exist.

The order, directed to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates Metro-North, said the extra personnel would be required until the agency updates its signal system to better enforce speed limits.

The order calls on Metro-North to provide the railroad administration with a list of main track locations with a maximum speed reduction of more than 20 miles per hour. The railroad is to identify “appropriate modifications to its existing automatic train control system or other signal systems to enable adequate advance warning of and adherence to such speed restrictions,” the administration said.

snip

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo also sent a letter on Friday to the authority’s chairman, Thomas F. Prendergast, whom he appointed to head the state agency earlier this year. He asked the authority to “consider and evaluate” a range of measures, including the use of a confidential system to report “close calls.” In its letter on Tuesday, the railroad administration instructed the authority to adopt such a system."
